As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Pennsylvania, and a graduate of Marywood University, I am excited to walk alongside you as you take this transformative journey toward wellness. Choosing therapy is a powerful act of self-care, and I believe in creating a supportive environment where you can feel seen, heard, and understood. My goal is to help you gain clarity, build resilience, and move towards the life you want to create.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, our focus will be on getting to know you better and understanding your unique experiences, challenges, and goals. We'll explore what brings you to therapy and discuss your concerns. This initial session is an opportunity for us to build rapport and trust while gathering important information to tailor treatment to your specific needs. By the end of the session, we'll work together to outline a plan for future sessions to develop a treatment plan.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe my greatest strengths lie in my commitment to building a strong therapeutic relationship with my clients. I strive to be both supportive and gently challenging, guiding clients towards their goals with empathy and understanding. I provide a safe space for clients to explore and process their thoughts and feelings, whether they bring tears or laughter. I approach therapy with humility, recognizing that I am not the expert; rather I am here to walk alongside my clients on their journey to healing and self-discovery.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working young adults aged 18 and older who are navigating the transition into adulthood. My approach is tailored to support individuals in facing life's challenges whether they're dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or adjusting to major life transitions. I'm dedicated to helping clients develop the skills they may need to thrive in their journey towards mental wellness and personal growth.

I have been in therapy sessions with JoAnna for a year now. I came to therapy when I was at my absolute lowest and needed to take control of my life, emotions and overall wellbeing. Therapy aided me in walking through the issues I was having, not going over/around them but facing them head-on in a professional solution oriented way. She was empathetic, honest and direct and most important non-bias. Her therapy style was just what I needed to continue to be the best version of myself.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

The therapeutic relationship forms the foundation of effective psychotherapy, fostering trust, and connection. I believe that using the treatment method CBT is effective in aiding clients in problem solving while making connections regarding their beliefs, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Client's being able to develop the therapeutic relationship provides comfort in clients being able to connect and problem solve in a short period of time.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

I am a firm believer in the benefits of CBT and working with individuals who have experienced traumatic events CPT is effective in reducing PTSD symptoms.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Being a Black therapist I believe that it's important to have cultural awareness. Providing a safe space for clients to address stigma and discrimination they may have experienced. Collaborating and empowering clients to realize their full potential.

Strength-Based

I believe the strength-based therapy is extremely important to help clients realize their full potential. I believe it's important to help client's focus on their strengths to aid in reaching goals.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Allowing clients the space to share their experiences and take the lead in sessions allows clients to take ownership of the session. Clients know their story and being allowed the space to find their own solutions.
