If you’re here, you may be carrying experiences that still show up in your body, your thoughts, or your relationships — even if those events happened long ago. You might feel on edge, numb, easily triggered, exhausted, or disconnected from yourself or others. If that sounds familiar, you’re not broken. Your nervous system learned how to survive, and now it may need support learning how to feel safe again. My name is Amy, and I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in South Carolina, also licensed in New Jersey and Connecticut. I’ve been practicing for 13 years and earned my Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. While I’ve worked with a wide range of concerns — including anxiety, depression, ADHD, anger, grief, and relationship challenges — I specialize in trauma working with PTSD and Complex PTSD. I work with clients who have experienced trauma in many forms, including childhood abuse or neglect, chronic stress, relational trauma, and significant life disruptions. My approach is trauma-informed, which means I move at your pace, prioritize your sense of safety, and respect your boundaries. You are always in control of what you share and when. Therapy is not about forcing yourself to “relive” anything — it’s about helping your nervous system feel safer and helping you reclaim your sense of choice and agency.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other and understanding what you’re hoping for. There’s no pressure to dive into hard details right away. Together, we’ll create goals that feel realistic and supportive — not overwhelming. Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded. We’ll work on building coping skills, recognizing patterns shaped by trauma, and strengthening your ability to feel present and connected in your daily life.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My therapeutic style is warm, honest, and collaborative. I offer support while also gently challenging patterns that may no longer serve clients. Because of my trauma specialization, I’m especially mindful of power dynamics and always respect client autonomy. I focus on helping clients understand their nervous system and their trauma responses instead of labeling them as “problems.” Many of my clients come in feeling broken or ashamed. Over time, they begin to see their behaviors as survival strategies — and that shift alone can be incredibly healing. Clients frequently tell me they feel comfortable opening up because they don’t feel judged or pressured. Therapy becomes a space where they can breathe, reflect, and grow at their own pace.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with clients who are open to gentle self-reflection and ready to explore how their past may still be impacting their present. If you’re looking for a therapist who is warm, patient, and honest — and who understands the complexities of trauma — we may be a good fit. If you’re seeking a highly structured, clinical approach or are not ready to engage in the process right now, I may not be the best match, and that’s okay. Healing doesn’t happen all at once. It happens in small, meaningful steps — and you don’t have to take them alone.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I take an eclectic approach to therapy. I utilize my education and 11 years of experience to offer every client a caring, non-judgmental, individualized approach. I partner with clients to achieve mental, emotional, and relational health by building on the strengths already present in their lives. Humor and a down-to-earth approach are used to build a supportive environment where you can learn to manage stress and emotions to create a balance in your life.
