Waasssuuuppppp, cousin?! Happy __________ [insert day]! I’m Nicole, and I’m here to remind you that when you choose yourself, you show the world what you truly deserve. Choosing yourself isn’t always easy, and it’s not always met with acceptance or understanding, but it’s worth it. Welcome to the other side of life, where healing resides. I proudly call myself a “hope dealer” with a deep passion for Black mental health and wellness. Over the past decade (and some), I’ve gained invaluable experience working with Indiana’s child welfare and juvenile justice systems. My areas of expertise include, but aren’t limited to, abuse and neglect, post-traumatic stress, race-related trauma and discrimination, sexually harmful behaviors, mood and anxiety disorders, challenges with positive self-image, and attachment disorders. I take pride in creating a therapeutic space that feels like a conversation at your kitchen table—a space where ethics, creativity, and humor meet. Therapy with me is an experience that gives you the chance to refocus on the parts of yourself that can get lost in the noise of others. It’s a space to reflect, release, and relearn. Life’s tough enough with responsibilities, and even finding matching socks—therapy doesn’t have to be hard too. At least not all the time. I’m grateful to those who choose me to guide them on their healing journey. To quote Lauryn Hill, “How you gon’ win when you ain’t right within?” So let’s stop wondering. This time, I encourage you to choose yourself.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Your initial session with me is all about getting comfortable and getting connected. We’ll spend time exchanging introductions, exploring your story from your perspective, discussing your goals and needs, and reviewing what brings you to therapy at this stage in your life. I’ll provide insight into my therapeutic approach, answer any questions you may have, and gather assessment information through a brief clinical consultation and clinical interview. The first session is collaborative, conversational, and intended to help ease any anxiety or uncertainty that can come with beginning therapy. Starting therapy can feel nerve-wracking, so this session is also about creating comfort, connection, and a space where you don’t have to show up “perfectly” to be supported. You are encouraged to show up exactly as you are!

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

Although I utilize an eclectic approach, I am a CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) believer at my core! :) I strongly believe there is a unique relationship between our thoughts and emotions that influence our actions. I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Trauma-Focused CBT, and incorporate other therapies that are innovative, strength-based and person-centered. Therapy definitely isn't one size fits all!

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am interested in using creative therapies (incorporating music, art, creative writing, etc.) and understanding trauma-related cultural, racial, and historical impacts on human behavior. I'm also most passionate about mental health and trauma in the black community, establishing healthy relationships, mood disorders, and improving self-esteem and image! Because healing isn’t just a vibe—it’s a lifestyle. These reads aren’t just homework, they’re handbooks for growth. We'll refer to some of them in session, but even on your own time, they’re gems worth revisiting. From the initial “Hey girl” I knew she was my therapy angel. She made me feel soooo welcome to the point she got all the tea in the first 15 mins. She is amazing ❤️

Nicole has been an incredible counselor for me and my family. She creates a safe, compassionate space and offers deep insight that helped us through very tough seasons. Her guidance strengthened our communication, brought healing to old wounds, and gave us hope when we needed it most. Nicole is both highly skilled and genuinely caring. We are truly grateful for her support and recommend her wholeheartedly.

In the 4 sessions I have had with Nicole, I notice thay she pays attention to things said and unsaid. She has a warm disposition and takes a creative approach to get people to open up and share about personal topics and feel safe.
