Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I'm sure it may feel a bit awkward for some, at first. So I typically use a very casual, relaxed style with a good bit of humour. We might discuss bigger/broader issues..and life in general. It is a little get acquainted session. I will explain things as much as needed or I will sit quietly and just listen.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am approachable. I can talk the (every) person talk and be extremely compassionate. I have a silly sense of humour and make a attempts to find the amusing or interesting anecdotes about us at least once to remind ourselves not to take life too seriously.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I love to work with clients who are confused about themselves, who might feel they're changing.. or why something is happening around them and what to do about it/how to improve it. I enjoy helping clients understand their behaviors and to help them feel more "normal" or acceptable.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been trained in this method and use it regularly to discuss client's thinking and feeling processes, how it relates to their concerns and assign home work or tasks to complete for our next session.

Adlerian

I use Adlerian therapy after establishing a rapport, doing an assessment and gaining insight. Then I start by examining client's lifestyle, behaviors, discussing their early experiences, and helping them to understand their behavior, overcome any inaccurate feelings, and develop a stronger sense of themselves and sense of belonging.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use this with most individuals; focusing on distress tolerance, emotional regulation and mindfulness. I strive to help individuals feeling better connected and "fit" better into society.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Trained on this approach years ago. I focus on a client's strength and what a solution might look like, rather than re-examining the problems, issues and concerns, It is time limited, future oriented and collaborative.
