Hello, I am Jonathan Edwards, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). It is my joy to help people of all ages and backgrounds navigate mental health issues. I have experience treating a variety of disorders related to anxiety, depression, trauma, mood, and negative behaviors. Utilizing various treatment strategies from proven counseling techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, I find an approach that works best for each client. I believe that a person’s sense of self develops from their experiences interacting socially and their ability to meet personal goals. I hope to guide my clients in identifying sources of negative feelings, developing better coping skills, and forming meaningful connections. Helping individuals create and achieve their goals empowers them to live more meaningfully.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, my first goal is to help you feel safe and build rapport. Starting therapy can be an intimidating process and the reality is I am a stranger to you. Using the information you provided on the intake I try to get to know you and your reasons for seeking counseling. I will not expect you to share information or difficult feelings unless you are ready. My second goal at our first session, is to help you get comfortable with the therapy process and alleviate any concerns you may have.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My variety of personal life experiences and growth help me to relate to my clients. The ability to relate has helped me develop unconditional positive regard and a desire to see my clients succeed. By being able to utilize a variety of techniques I aim to match my clients needs with a strategy that helps them see the growth they want efficiently.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My counseling style best serves someone actively seeking to make changes to improve their quality of life. This could be someone who has struggled with various aspects of anxiety or depression for a long time, or due to sudden life events. I have also helped clients to process traumas and develop coping skills that enable them to engage in life fully. It is never too soon or too late to change the negative patterns in our lives. Feeling like a perpetual victim to situations we had little to no control over can leave us feeling stuck reliving those moments or prevent us from being fully present when interacting with other people. Maybe you just need help with better decision-making due to a history of mistakes that have caused you or your loved ones harm. I am here to help you with that, too. I help clients develop measurable goals and a plan to achieve those goals. Clients seeking feedback to process their feelings on the reasons behind their thoughts or behaviors, to guide the changes they want to see in themselves have had the most success. A willingness to be honest or challenge themselves is a must. If this sounds like what you are looking for, I am ready to schedule an intake with you.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the most commonly practiced forms of therapy. In my experience, it has been beneficial in treating a variety of mental health issues. These include, but are not limited to, anxiety, depression, and trauma. CBT is practical and effective as it can use a problem-solving approach to process emotions and develop coping skills.
