LCMHC, 4 years of experience
Welcome! I'm Chelsey! First and foremost, I would like to thank you for coming to Grow to acknowledge your current mental health needs. I know that this can sometimes feel overwhelming, scary, and uncomfortable. It is important to know that you are validated, and heard. As an open-minded therapist, I want you to know that it is important to me to be able to have a relationship with you that is professional but yet comfortable. I want you to feel the ability to speak freely in so you can begin the healing process. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore obstacles with concerns related to anxiety, depression, and/or self-care. I focus on helping clients develop assertive communication & boundaries with themselves and those around them that can help improve their quality of life. Counseling can foster personal development in whatever way you may be seeking and help build the life you so deeply deserve. If that's what you're looking for, I'm here when you're ready to share. • I received my Master’s degree at Indiana Wesleyan University. • I have been practicing therapeutic services since 2020 in the height of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Prior to this, I was fortunate enough to also work as a case manager in both the community, and in the schools. I have experience in telehealth as well as enhanced services in Medicaid on a state & county level. I have experience with all ages and client developmental and life stages. I primary assist with issues of depression, anxiety, trauma, life-transitions, family dynamic transitions, grief, complex illness, and end-of-life issues. Please feel free to ask any questions as I am happy to help in any way I can.
In our first session together we will go over what specific needs and challenges you are encountering. We will work in a flexible format in that you can ask questions, and it will be comfortable as you need. After answering a series of questions to get to know each other we will come up with a specific plan that is designed to your needs and mental health. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
I have had the ability to start my career to help others since 2020. I have been able to gain more experience in helping others with their anxiety, grief, depression, and several other issues. I am able to help you visualize the need for change, and identify any challenges, and how to work through them. I am open-minded and here to help you.
The first session is all about you, & all the sessions are about you, BUT the first session is about you finding your feet in a new environment and us getting to know each other. NOW, yes, there will be some things and dynamics and safety questions that we will have to cover, but that is only because of documentation and insurance purposes. No worries, deep breath, your session is your time. The therapeutic environment is your space, your place. This is all about YOU.
As an open-minded therapist, I believe that it is important to recognize our faith and how it applies to our daily life. I am open to reading scriptures with my clients, and being able to implement how God is important to us, and our spirtual journey.
I believe our day to day thinking can be consumed by negativity at times. When we are able to reflect on our behavioral thought patterns and being able to reframe we can see things in a more positive manner.
For the past 5 years I have been able to specialize in implementing the 5 stages of grief, and how this applies to our life. By recognizing which emotions, we are experience and each stage we can allow ourself the ability to process grief of our loved one.
