LCSW, 6 years of experience
New to Grow
Hi, I'm Shawn! I'm a licensed clinical social worker based in Kentucky with a master's degree in social work and 6 years of hands-on experience. My focus is on creating a safe, welcoming space where clients can be fully themselves- no masks, just authenticity. I believe therapy should feel like home, a place filled with understanding, comfort, and even laughter, because healing doesn't always have to be heavy. My goal is to help clients gain the self-awareness and confidence needed to create lasting positive change in their lives.
In our first session, we'll spend time getting to know each other and exploring what brought you to therapy. This conversation helps me understand your goals, your story, and the areas you'd like to focus on, so we can create a personalized plan for the sessions ahead.
Empathy is at the heart of my work- I meet people where they are on their journey and walk alongside them without judgement. My experience in a crisis psychiatric hospital has given me skills to stay grounded during intense emotions and offer consistent steady support when it's needed the most.
I work primarily with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, or the big curveballs life sometimes throws our way. My ideal clients are people who may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of their next step, but are open to exploring their emotions and learning new ways to grow. If you're ready to build resilience, embrace your authentic self, and create a life that feels more balanced and meaningful- with room for joy and laughter along the way- you're in the right place.
I regularly use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my practice to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to depression, anxiety, and stress. I work with clients to develop healthier perspectives and coping strategies through structured interventions, worksheets, and collaborative exploration.
I use a DBT-informed approach in my practice to help clients manage emotions, improve relationships, and build healthy coping skills. I integrate DBT strategies such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness into sessions based on client needs.
I use psychoeducation to help clients better understand their mental health and the tools available to support them. By learning about symptoms, treatment strategies, and practical coping skills, clients gain the knowledge and confidence needed to manage challenges and create lasting change.
I use solution-focused therapy to help clients identify their strengths and build practical strategies for positive change. Rather than focusing solely on problems, I guide clients to explore what's already working and how to expand on those successes.
