Taking a step towards mental wellness can be overwhelming, but I am here to walk you through the process. I provide a safe, and flexible environment for clients to explore their goals in life and I empower individuals to make a plan for healing. Each plan of care is created with an individually focused lens that allows clients to maintain control of their goals and action steps towards wellness. Although my approach is integrative and person-centered, I most often utilize CBT, mindfulness, supportive, strength-based and couples therapy techniques within my sessions. I have over 10 years of experience as a Licensed Independent Social Worker. My experience includes counseling in areas of grief and loss, life transitions, chronic illness, anxiety, depression and much more. I believe that talk therapy is most effective when an established and trusting therapeutic bond is formed. “Mental strength is not the ability to stay out of the darkness; it's the ability to sit present in the darkness knowing that the light will shine again" (AHDH Superhero, 2022).

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will get to know each other, set expectations and work together to determine a treatment plan. The first session is more of a general overview of the concerns you would like to address and some basic coping skills will be taught, if applicable.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe my biggest strength is recognizing that there is no "one size fits all" approach to therapy. I taper my methods and modalities based upon a client's needs. I continue to advance my skills with ongoing education and trainings, sometimes these are prompted in order to better serve a particular client. I also will be up front and honest with a client if I feel that my skill set is not what they require and will help them find someone who is equipped with a specialized skill set they may need. Honesty and candid rapport can be expected.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

We will work together to analyze your thoughts, feelings and then work to determine the effect they have on each other and on you. By identifying negative or unrealistic thought patterns, we can work to change the behaviors caused by our emotional responses.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I believe that each therapy session should be looked at from a "person-centered" perspective, meaning that I will meet you where you are and work with you to identify unique and creative plans to address concerns.

Supportive

Supportive therapy a type of therapy that primarily focuses on providing emotional support, encouragement, and validation to help the individual find safety in working through trauma, life experiences and their emotions.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I utilize mindful practices to help reduce undesired symptoms and to help with present thinking.
