New to Grow
Hi, I'm Erin. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 14 years of experience helping adults navigate anxiety, OCD, trauma, stress, and life transitions. I work with individuals who may feel overwhelmed by worry, intrusive thoughts, self-doubt, perfectionism, difficult past experiences, or major changes in their lives. My goal is to provide a supportive, practical space where clients can better understand what is keeping them stuck and learn effective tools to move forward. Using evidence-based approaches, I help clients develop healthier ways of responding to anxiety, process difficult experiences, build resilience, and create meaningful change. I believe therapy should not only reduce symptoms but also help people feel more confident, connected, and empowered in their daily lives.
Starting therapy can feel intimidating, especially if this is your first experience with counseling. My goal is to create a comfortable, supportive environment where you can share at your own pace. During our first session, we will spend time getting to know one another and discussing what brings you to therapy. I will ask questions about your current concerns, personal history, relationships, and any symptoms or challenges you may be experiencing. This assessment process helps me gain a better understanding of your unique situation and identify the factors that may be contributing to your difficulties. We will also review any questionnaires or screening tools you completed before the appointment. These screenings provide additional information about your symptoms and help guide treatment recommendations. Together, we will discuss your goals for therapy and what you hope to achieve. Whether you are seeking relief from anxiety, working through a difficult life transition, processing past experiences, or developing healthier coping skills, we will begin creating a treatment plan tailored to your needs and priorities. Many clients find that they feel relieved after the first session simply by having a safe space to talk openly about their concerns. While meaningful change takes time, our first meeting lays the foundation for the work we will do together moving forward. You do not need to prepare anything special for your first appointment. Simply come as you are, and we will take it one step at a time.
I view therapy as a partnership. My role is not to tell clients what to do, but to help them gain insight, develop effective coping skills, and build confidence in their ability to navigate life's challenges. Clients often describe my approach as warm, supportive, and direct. Together, we focus on understanding the root causes of distress, building practical tools for managing difficult emotions, and creating meaningful change that extends beyond the therapy office.
I specialize in working with adults experiencing anxiety, OCD, trauma, and life transitions. Many of my clients are caring, responsible, and high-achieving individuals who spend significant energy worrying, overanalyzing situations, second-guessing themselves, or trying to prevent bad outcomes. Some struggle with intrusive thoughts, perfectionism, panic, or the lingering effects of difficult life experiences. Others find themselves feeling overwhelmed by major transitions such as changes in relationships, parenthood, career demands, caregiving responsibilities, or loss. My clients are often ready for change but unsure how to break free from patterns that no longer serve them. I provide a supportive yet practical approach that helps clients better understand their thoughts and emotions, develop effective coping strategies, process difficult experiences, and move toward a life guided by their values rather than fear or anxiety.
Other specialties
I identify as
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients develop psychological flexibility and reduce the struggle with difficult thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. ACT is particularly effective for anxiety, OCD, and trauma-related concerns because it teaches clients to respond differently to distress rather than becoming trapped in avoidance, rumination, or compulsive behaviors. Treatment focuses on mindfulness, acceptance, values clarification, and committed action to help clients build a meaningful life while reducing the impact of symptoms.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thinking patterns that contribute to anxiety, depression, trauma-related symptoms, and emotional distress. Through collaborative exploration, clients learn to recognize cognitive distortions, develop more balanced perspectives, and practice behavioral strategies that improve coping and functioning. CBT provides practical tools that empower clients to make lasting changes in their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
I am trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), an evidence-based treatment for PTSD and trauma-related symptoms. CPT helps clients examine and challenge beliefs that may have developed following traumatic experiences, such as feelings of guilt, shame, self-blame, or difficulty trusting others. Through structured interventions, clients learn to evaluate these beliefs, develop more balanced thinking, and reduce the emotional impact of trauma while improving overall functioning and quality of life.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills to help clients improve emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT is particularly beneficial for individuals who experience intense emotions, anxiety, relationship difficulties, or challenges managing stress. I teach practical coping strategies that help clients navigate difficult situations more effectively while building resilience and increasing confidence in their ability to manage emotions.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard treatment for OCD and anxiety disorders. ERP helps clients gradually confront feared thoughts, images, sensations, and situations while reducing compulsive behaviors, avoidance, reassurance-seeking, and other safety behaviors. Treatment is individualized and collaborative, allowing clients to build confidence in tolerating uncertainty and anxiety while learning that feared outcomes are often less likely or less dangerous than OCD predicts.
