Hello and welcome! My name is JC and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Southern California. I am currently a Marriage and Family Therapy Ph.D. candidate specializing in Medical Family Therapy at Northcentral University. I obtained my Masters in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University, Orange County. I operate from a combination of a Patient-Centered approach to therapy wherein I meet my patients where they are at while implementing a Biopsychosocial approach which allows me to comprehensively examine the interplay of biological, psychological, and social elements to understand health, illness, and the delivery of healthcare for my patients and their presenting concerns.
Initial sessions are where my patients and I are able to establish therapeutic rapport. During this time, my patients have the opportunity to share what either prompted them to seek therapy or what led to their return to therapy, explore what goals they want their individualized therapy session to focus on and how I can support my patients in attaining their goals.
Since 2015, I have provided a number of specialized therapeutic services to those dealing with life’s most complex and difficult matters. Patient well-being is my number one priority. While I specialize in working with patients diagnosed with chronic illness experiencing anxiety and/or depression, as well as with Active Duty, Retired Military & Veterans, and Law Enforcement, I work with a range of patients from 7 to 65+ years of age. I have extensive experience working with ADHD, anxiety, behavioral issues, depression, developmental and learning disabilities, grief, and PTSD.

I don't think this provider is a good fit for those with ptsd nor those with neurodivergent tendencies. This provider doesn't reflect kindness or empathy and not open to discussing communication preferences and accommodations. In the end, it's fair for a provider to make a choice about "fit", but to do so within just a few minutes of meeting feels a bit harsh, judgmental, and rushed.
