New to Grow
My name is Lessie Sutton and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with the State Board of Georgia. I received my Master's of Social Work degree at Valdosta State University and have worked in the field of Social Work for over 27 years. I have had 13+ years of providing psychotherapy treatment to patients dealing with mental health disorders. My goal is to gain insight into your mental health issues and to provide therapeutic tools to move you to mental health wellness.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During our first session, we will establish rapport by discussing what are your areas of concern, what you hope to accomplish and I will inform you on the terms and conditions of the session. Feel free to express your concerns in a non judgmental and caring environment. We will complete a Biopsychosocial assessment that helps me to understand more about you and assists in developing appropriate interventions.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Having experienced trauma in my own life at an early age, I understand how it can impact your life for many years. In addition, for the past 27 years I have worked with patients with severe mental health disorders, substance abuse, and chronic medical illnesses. My greatest strength is being able to listen attentively with an open mind and willingness to help you move towards your healing journey while communicating clear, direct and compassionate.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
Life can be overwhelming at times due to the many pressures that comes with being an adult. If you are struggling with anxiety, depression and/or grief just know that you are not alone. My goal is to assist you in developing positive coping strategies to use in gaining a more fulfilling life. We can work together to manage daily stressors, address long-standing issues and to create a space for your empowerment with new self confidence.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT is used in identifying and changing negative thoughts and behaviors that ultimately lead to depression and anxiety. Once we work together in identifying the root cause of the depression and anxiety, I assist in providing tools to respond to challenges in a more productive way. By adapting healthier habits, thoughts and behaviors, these tools can be used as a coping mechanisms. The outcome is a greater sense of control over feelings and behaviors, and the ability to overcome symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Grief Therapy
Any loss can have a profound impact on our day to day functioning. My goal is to assist in identifying the current stage of grief and helping to successfully move through the stages of grief to achieve healing and closure.
