New to Grow
My approach to therapy is tailored to the client I am working with and is flexible enough to withstand major life changes without losing momentum. I utilize CBT, trauma informed techniques, and honest conversation to help my client make the progress they want to see in their life. I am a trained EMDR clinician through the EMDR Institute and I have experience utilizing this as a component of services to help clients work through their triggers and everyday stressors. My clients often see results and relief in their life within several sessions. My main experience is in treating trauma, addiction, dissociation, and dual diagnosis symptoms.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Our first session will be a great time to get know each other and determine what you are looking for from therapy, what experience you have had with therapy before, and what you want your life to look like in the future. I like to mix informal conversation with the evaluation, as it can be very challenging to talk to a stranger about personal things. There will not be any deep dives into past traumas during this session and I want to be sure that you have the opportunity to ask me any questions you have so you leave the session feeling comfortable and confident that this was the correct choice for you.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
Therapy is an opportunity to examine all areas of your life and make changes specific to you and your goals. I believe in honest feedback and discussion during sessions, as well as making sure you feel that the time that is set aside for you is well spent and directed by you. I feel that investing in therapy is investing in yourself and your life. There is no problem too large or too small to work through if it is affecting you and your functioning.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
If you are finding yourself feeling anxious and overwhelmed at the thought of managing all the demands of your life, the world around you, and issues that may be arising from your past then therapy may be a good idea for you! Putting off your own needs and not caring for yourself can lead to long term effects on your mind, body, and overall health. Feeling as though life can be better doesn’t have to be a dream, it can be a reality. Let's work together to build support for a less stressful life that you can enjoy to the fullest, while also focusing on your goals through real discussion, targeted work, and positive outcomes.
EMDR
Utilizing EMDR is a helpful tool for clients that find themselves stuck in emotional responses or finding themselves triggered for unknown reasons that want to explore this more deeply. EMDR can begin to minimize emotional responses and allow more freedom in everyday experiences.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize CBT to help clients identify negative thought patterns and make changes to alleviate symptoms of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Utilizing CBT to help focus on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions to help develop skills for better daily functioning.
