My name is Melissa and I'm a licensed mental health counselor based in FL and working on licensure in Washington. I received my Master's degree from Capella University. I've worked with adults in many different areas of behavioral health from outpatient to residential. I have over 5 years of experience in providing counseling services with over 20 years of experience working in behavioral health, substance use and mental health.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Most first sessions are about building rapport and getting to know what brought you to therapy. With the information gathered in the first session it will help us design a treatment plan that will assist you in reaching your goals. I want everyone to take at least one or two nuggets of information or different perspectives with them when the session ends.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I meet people where they are at and provide a judgment free, safe zone to go along the therapy journey with them. I make suggestions/recommendations, but the therapy journey belongs to you, the client. I am able to approach clients and their issues/concerns by being flexible, casual, clinical, direct or gentle as I meet the clients' needs. I strive to bring the best therapeutic experience to everyone I encounter.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with those who are looking to make improvements in themselves and are looking to find those skills to do just that. I want clients to know that they are not alone and that they can heal. Most folks I work with are struggling with relationships (with others and themselves) anxiety, depression and how to improve in these areas of their lives.
