Hello and Welcome! I'm Christy. Take a moment to acknowledge you've taken the first step towards bettering your mental health because, let's be honest - starting therapy can be empowering, confusing, or scary, all at the same time. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore obstacles with concerns related to a wide array of mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and/or self-care, just to name a few. I focus on helping clients develop assertive communication & boundaries with themselves and those around them that can help improve their quality of life. Counseling can foster personal development in whatever way you may be seeking and help build the life you so deeply deserve. If that's what you're looking for, I'm here when you're ready to share. I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker based in Miami, Florida. I earned my graduate degree from Florida International University in 2010 and have been licensed since 2016. My career began at Banyan Health Systems (formerly Miami Behavioral), where I worked as an adult mental health case manager back in 2004. After gaining my Masters degree, I continued to work for Banyan as a Child outpatient therapist and intake specialist. As a mother of three, I am deeply committed to family and believe that "family over everything" is the foundation of my personal and professional life. In my spare time, I enjoy dancing, spending time with my husband and three children, going to the beach and embracing the vibrant energy of my Miami roots.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with a diverse population for the past 20 years, I've developed a tried-and-true playbook for helping you identify the root cause of your challenges which allows me in assisting you create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress. Together, we will identify your challenges and goals - where you want your life to be a month, six months, a year from now. Then, we'll identify options and strategies you can use to get there. You'll leave the session with a better understanding of what you're facing with an "actions I can take right now" approach. There will always be room for suggestions concerning our work together, including keeping each other accountable.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) is a therapeutic approach that centers on finding solutions to your current problems rather than delving deeply into the past or exploring the origins of your issues. It’s called “brief” because it typically involves fewer sessions compared to traditional therapy methods.

Couples Counseling

Couples therapy, also known as marriage or relationship counseling, is a type of psychotherapy that helps couples of all types recognize and resolve conflicts to improve their relationships. This therapy can be used by couples at any stage of their relationship, whether they are newly together, dealing with specific challenges, or considering separation. Each couple’s therapy experience is unique, and therapists often tailor their approach based on the couple’s needs, goals, and the dynamics of their relationship. The ultimate goal of couples therapy is to enhance understanding, improve communication, and build a stronger, healthier relationship.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I’ve been using CBT in my practice for the past 14 years. It’s helped dozens of clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.
