As a therapist, I feel tremendous gratitude to be able to support ALL individuals on their journey of healing. I aim to use a compassionate and strength-based approach, which allows me to maintain an open mind and heart throughout our work together while focusing on the strengths and skill you already have. I practice holistically to look at the different aspects of the mind, body, emotions, and spirit to find what is needed to feel more peace and comfort in your life. Throughout our time together, I’m committed to showing up with a positive, kind, respectful, nonjudgmental and caring attitude.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, I will start with introducing myself and explaining some about my professional background, while also exploring if there is anything I can do to make you feel more comforting with our first session. I will then explain administrative details about therapy, what to expect and the important role you play in the development of treatment goals. Next, I like to start with the good stuff, if possible! Feel free to share as much or as little as you'd like. I love hearing what is going well for clients or what hobbies/interest they have. Though parts of therapy may be spent on the tougher emotions or aspects of life, it should also include a focus on the positive or strengths in your life. After that, if you are feeling comfortable, we can move into talking about the reasons that bring your to therapy and what you'd like to achieve while being here. If you aren't yet comfortable to go there in the first session, no problem! We can continue with whatever topics feel best to you in the moment. After all of that, believe it or not, our time will likely be up and we can discuss if you'd be interested in a next session.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I have experience working in community mental health and group private practice settings with individuals, couples, and group therapy. I use a trauma-informed perspective and practice therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing and EMDR. No matter what you may be experiencing in the present or have experienced in the past, I hope to be able to support you in whatever ways you are needing! As we work through the tough times, I would also love to be here to celebrate the good times and your achievements along the way.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

In my practice, I find that I work well with individuals who have experienced events that may be classified as traumatic, that may have impacted their mind, body, soul, and spirit. I have a passion for helping others find healing, despite what we have been through in the past because I believe change is always possible. Additionally, I'm interested by the vast research on trauma, specifically how the brain and body are affected which I rely on when I work with such challenges in the therapy room. I have also developed an appreciation for working with military members or veterans. I have found that this population is often underserved and lacking access to mental health services which is why I want to lend a hand. Lastly, I'm driven to working on supporting people in overcoming eating disorders, addressing body image issues, increasing body positivity and knowledge on food/body health. Given different societal and cultural standards, I have seen how many of us put pressures on our bodies and diet which can have significant mental health impacts. Therefore, I feel empowered to help combat these impacts.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is used in my practice to help explore the connection between our thoughts, feelings and behavior. With new insight into these aspects of ourselves, goals for change can be developed to move towards our best selves.

EMDR

I believe EMDR is a beneficial treatment for individuals who may be experiencing trauma responses that have become interrupting in their lives. By exploring past experiences and reprocessing them through EMDR protocols, there may be a new level of healing and freedom to be found.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is a great treatment approach that I like because of the many coping and life skills that it incorporates. I also appreciate using DBT for the mindfulness lessons that can help calm our mind and body.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

One of my favorite aspects to IFS is that it acknowledges that we are made up of different parts which are all inherently good and serve a special role in our lives. Thus, IFS isn't about becoming a different person but using our various strengths and uniqueness in a way that is helpful rather than harmful to our overall wellness. If you have ever see the "Inside Out" movies, you've seen an example of some of the concepts of IFS.
