the initial therapy session will typically be around gathering information to include what your goals are for therapy and what has been recently occurring in your life that led you to begin therapy. This initial therapy session is also a way to begin to develop therapeutic rapport between the Clinician and the Client. The cornerstone of Dawn's therapeutic approach is rooted in both (CBT) Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and (DBT) Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Both modalities are highly effective approaches focused on your thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes affect your feelings and behavior choices. CBT is about being present as well as future oriented and movement towards change versus focusing on the past. DBT approach that I frequently utilize is a Compassionate approach with an Evidence-Based Track record. The goal of DBT and therapy in general as I view it is to not only assist my clients survive major crises, but to develop, learn and utilize the skills and daily behaviors that allow you to enjoy living your best life.

I have extensive knowledge and experience in (SFBT) which focuses on solution-building rather than problem-solving.
CBT has been shown to be highly effective in treating depression, anxiety, substance abuse and more. This modality helps the client to identify and then change automatic negative thoughts or reactions.
Extensive experience in DBT techniques which combines skills for staying grounded in the present moment and coping skills for tolerating the stressors of internal and external conflicts.
