LMHC, 4 years of experience
New to Grow
I am Keissy Josefik, LMHC and LMFT, a dedicated mental health professional with a Master of Science in Mental Health and Couples and Family Therapy from Barry University. With over 5 years of experience working in the Mental Health field, I've been supporting individuals, couples, and families in their healing journey. In my practice, I am dedicated to supporting individuals navigating life’s challenges, including identity exploration, cultural dynamics, life transitions, anxiety, and depression. I strive to create a safe and inclusive space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered on their journey toward healing and self-discovery.
In our first session, I’ll create a welcoming space to understand your challenges, goals, and what brings you to therapy. We’ll discuss my approach, answer your questions, and start exploring steps to support your growth, self-awareness, and well-being.
As a therapist, I bring empathy, cultural sensitivity, and authenticity into every session. My approach is integrative — drawing from evidence-based methods like CBT, ACT, systemic, and humanistic therapy — and tailored to meet each client where they are. I believe that genuine connection and emotional safety are the foundation for meaningful change. My multicultural background and experience working with diverse populations allow me to hold space for complex identities, immigration experiences, and cultural transitions with understanding and respect. I have a special passion for supporting clients exploring identity, navigating family dynamics, or healing from experiences that have left them feeling unseen or disconnected.
My ideal client is someone who is ready to explore themselves more deeply — even if they’re not yet sure where to begin. They may be feeling stuck, disconnected, or overwhelmed by emotions, relationships, or life transitions. Many of my clients come to therapy seeking to understand patterns that keep repeating, to heal from past experiences, or to build a stronger sense of self and direction. I especially enjoy working with individuals who are navigating questions of identity, belonging, and self-worth, including those from multicultural or LGBTQ+ backgrounds. My ideal client is open to reflection and growth, and values authenticity and collaboration in the therapeutic process.
CBT focuses on the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. The idea is that sometimes we get stuck in patterns of unhelpful thinking that affect how we feel and act. Together, we’ll learn to: Identify and challenge negative or unhelpful thoughts Understand how these thoughts influence your emotions and actions Practice new ways of thinking and coping that are more balanced and empowering
ACT helps us notice and make space for difficult thoughts and feelings instead of getting caught up in them. It’s grounded in mindfulness and values-based living. Through ACT, we’ll work on: Accepting what’s out of your control Becoming more present and aware Identifying your personal values Taking committed action toward the life you want, even when it’s hard
Humanistic therapy emphasizes personal growth, authenticity, and your innate capacity for self-understanding and healing. It’s grounded in empathy, respect, and collaboration. In this space, you can expect: A nonjudgmental, supportive environment Opportunities to explore your identity, needs, and values A focus on self-acceptance and living in a way that feels true to you This approach helps you reconnect with your strengths and sense of agency, fostering deeper self-compassion and purpose.
