Hi, mucho gusto! I’m a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker and certified school social worker based in Florida! My experience ranges from littles all the way through high school and young adulthood. The school setting has been my home for the last 6 years and has provided me with experience working towards goals and behavioral changes that impact our abilities to be successful both in and out of school. These goals can include stress management and coping skills, emotional regulation, organizational strategies, peer relations, and increasing self esteem.
In our first session together, we’ll get to know you: your strengths and difficulties, past and current experiences, and what you want out of your sessions. This will help us to start working towards a plan designed to suit you.
Having worked with children, teens, and young adults since grad school, I’ve developed a great ability to build rapport and establish genuine and meaningful relationships. This is created by meeting the clients where they are, being empathetic and compassionate, and establishing a safe and sincere space.
Teenagers and young adults speak my language! Being a teen is hard enough as it is, and figuring out your next steps, whether it be college, the workforce, or something else, can be difficult. My clients dream of meeting their goals, but don’t have the right tools or are unsure of their direction. They often feel stuck, overwhelmed and anxious about how to reach their goals and celebrate their most authentic selves.
Learned behaviors, attitudes, and core thoughts can impact the power of automatic responses (those pesky thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that come up even you don’t want them to). By exploring the roots of these behavioral and thought processes, we can change our overall outlook and learn to handle stressors in a mindful and effective manner.
‘If a miracle happened in your sleep tonight, what changes would you see tomorrow?’ It’s easy to forget that our greatest strengths come from within and that our goals are often closer to reach than we thought. Realizing the power you already have can help with creating the steps to finally reach your goals and make them reality.
If at first you don’t succeed, try again! Anyone has the ability to change and become the best version of themselves. Motivational Interviewing will help to explore the ‘what ifs’ and ‘now whats’ by looking back at your experiences and moving forward towards change.
