I use a strength based; person centered approach in a collaborative manner to assist my clients to see HOPE as they face challenges in life. I have worked as a clinical counselor for over 19 years in a variety of professional settings. These include outpatient community mental health, crisis services, corporate/workplace settings, and owning and operating a private Christian counseling practice. I also have experience in training law enforcement on how to better assist individuals in a mental health crisis. I have counseled children, adolescents, and adults with diverse backgrounds and ranges of concerns. My therapeutic approach is to meet clients where they are in life and provide support and counseling to help effectively address personal challenges. I also hold a bachelor’s degree from Ohio University in Exercise Science and aspire to educate people on how the use of exercise in the counseling process can positively impact mental health.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I work with my clients in a collaborative approach to allow them to leave each session seeing that they have been heard and validated and that there is HOPE in their journey. I encourage open and honest communication and emphasize that the client is the expert on themself.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I'm an eclectic therapist that draws from many treatment approaches to serve the needs of my clients. I utilize the following therapeutic approaches: Client-Centered, CBT, trauma focused, relational Therapy and motivational Interviewing. I also use a harm reduction approach.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe my biggest strength is being able to create an environment where the client knows that they are being listened to in an atmosphere that does not feel clinical and "stuffy". My role is to come alongside the client and allow them to lead the session and share their "expertise" and at times give prompting and reflection during their counseling journey. I am able to listen well, but at times point out to the client when some action may be required.
