I enjoy my career as a Licensed Therapist! It is such a privilege to serve my clients and assist them on their journey of healing. My background is in Corporate America and I changed careers in my middle age years so now I am doing exactly what I love! I am licensed in Michigan with 12 years of professional work experience. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion in order to allow my clients to thrive. I will help you identify the things you want to be different in your life and develop skills and a plan for reaching your desired goals.
I complete a screening with my clients which involves asking questions regarding their past, present and future life experiences in order to obtain a glimpse into their world. Then at then end of our season I ask clients; what are their hopes and what would like to see come from our counseling sessions? Based on the responses to their questions, I prepare a Treatment Plan and review it with the client on their next session. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet my clients unique and specific needs. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change.
I work to provide an environment that is both safe and non-judgmental. I will help you identify the things you want to be different in your life and develop skills and a plan for reaching your desired goals. I am here to support and empower my clients on their journey. Together we will take healthy risks, work for positive change, and celebrate their victories. Transformation from depression, anxiety, personal problems, grief, life transitions and other issues can be challenging. It is important to have the right support and a strong, positive relationship with your counselor.
I enjoy working with clients that are experiencing life challenges in various seasons of their life such as Aging issues, Communication problems, Divorce and separation, Forgiveness, Guilt and shame, Isolation / loneliness, Life purpose, Midlife crisis, Money and financial issues, Multicultural concerns, Prejudice and discrimination, Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), Self-love, Workplace issues, Young adult issues.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can be considered talk therapy for mental health conditions. In working with clients and even using it in my own life it helps to understand that our thoughts and behaviors are connected. It helps clients learn and implement ways to challenge any negative thought patterns and replace them with what is true. CBT provides clients with tools to challenge thought patterns and understand the negative impact their behaviors can cause. This approach can help clients to learn and implement strategies in order to challenge and replace the distorted thoughts with more constructive thoughts. CBT can help with how we respond to any emotional triggers we may encounter. It typically takes place over a fixed number of sessions and is a solution-focused type of therapy.
Having a belief in God has made a major impact in my life. Clients that ascribe to the Christian faith allow space to integrate the principals of the Bible with successful psychological practices to treat the whole person.
