“An Arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back, it means that it is going to launch you into something great.” Life has its way of pulling us backward, but I believe with positive support, healthy coping skills, and processing through things that are dragging you back; you can learn to thrive and launch yourself into greater things. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Missouri and also licensed in Illinois and Massachusetts. I received my Master's from the University of Missouri-Columbia. I have worked with clients of all ages and value the opportunity to support individuals in making meaningful, positive changes to live their best lives. I bring over ten years of experience in the mental health field, working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, mood disorders, PTSD, personality disorders, and substance and alcohol use disorders. I specialize in perinatal mental health and have also served as a breastfeeding peer counselor, which allows me to incorporate additional support and understanding into my work with individuals and families. My greatest strength as a therapist is building genuine, trusting relationships where clients feel accepted, heard, and understood. Using a variety of therapeutic approaches, I help clients develop practical coping skills to manage daily stress and navigate symptoms they have struggled with in the past. I truly believe change is possible. I use DBT(Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) informed skills to help women and individuals in the perinatal period and beyond build mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and healthy relationship skills. These tools are effective in managing anxiety, depression, mood changes, trauma responses, disordered eating, substance use, and other emotional challenges common in women’s and perinatal mental health.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During our first session, we will explore your history and learn how it has shaped and affects you currently. We will dive into what you want to work on in treatment and create a therapy treatment plan with goals that address what you want to work on.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I feel my greatest strength as a therapist is the ability to build a theraputic bond and relationship with my clients. I help hold the weight that has been heavy on their shoulders and help teach them healthy coping skills.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I have worked in the mental health field for over ten years. Throughout my time working in mental health I have worked with clients with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, mood disorders, PTSD, personality disorders, and substance and alcohol use disorders. My greatest skill as a therapist is being able to work with clients and help them feel accepted, heard, and understood.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I have been trained in several treatment modalities and use these interchangeably throughout sessions to provide the most effective and individual-based treatment. No two sessions are alike, and treatment is based on what my client's therapy goals are. The most common modalities I use are Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral(CBT), Dialectical Behavioral(DBT), Motivational Interviewing, EMDR and Acceptance and Commitment (ACT).
