Hi! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in New Jersey with over 20 years of experience working with adolescents and adults in a variety of settings. I use a supportive approach to build a rapport and help the client identify realistic goals based on their needs. We will look at patterns throughout your life to see what things aren’t working for you any longer to make lasting change.
In our first session together, we will have time to get to know one another. I will gather information about what brought you to therapy and assist you with identifying goals for treatment. These goals will help guide us on a path of reflection and change. I will meet you where you are at in this process and follow your pace.
I believe my greatest strengths are being compassionate, showing empathy, and using active listening skills. Hearing what one is saying and truly understanding them, not listening to give a response. I help the client figure things out by looking at patterns and identifying healthier ways to cope and make positive change.
I like working with clients who seek insight. I am passionate about being a part of that journey to make lasting positive change. Seeing a client overcome feelings of being overwhelmed, anxious or sad is an amazing process. I also enjoy working with couples and focusing on improving boundaries and communication in a relationship.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I primarily use techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as I find it is helpful in introducing coping skills that are easily adapted into an individuals routine. This can be taught while learning a healthy way to reframe thoughts and gain a more positive perspective in one's life.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness teaches us to live in the present. It reduces depression that results from focusing on the past and anxiety from worrying about the future. There are many techniques that can be taught to adopt this outlook.

I have had a great time working with Annemarie. She's so easy to talk to and shares an honest, genuine perspective. She offers questions and challenges me to reflect that really help frame my thinking. She is kind and warm, I always feel really good leaving our sessions.

Annemarie has been very supportive during a tough time. She help me see things that aren't immediately obvious to me and she is a great listener.

I am very happy to have AnneMarie Halbert as my therapist. She creates a warm and safe space for me to explore my own emotions, thoughts and she is a very good listener . In doing so, she is able to listen to what you are saying and be a partner with you in creating ways to help you move forward. Whether it is by asking questions for you to think on, journal on or by helping you see another way or side to your situation. By having a space of care and safety, I am able to think and share deeply.
