Hi, welcome! My name is Koti (KOH-tee). I am a therapist of lived trans experience passionate about supporting people fostering their authentic self-discovery, love, joy and healing, particularly for queer and gender expansive individuals. I am trauma informed and my skills are rooted in Internal Family Systems, Somatics, CBT and DBT. I am committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and empowering space where you can explore you inner world, vulnerabilities and parts of yourself you feel are not worthy to reclaim your power, joy, self love and live authentically. I provide evidence-based, culturally responsive psychotherapy services that honor the diversity of identities and experiences. My goal is to empower you to embrace, love and value your uniqueness and thrive in all aspects of life.
During our first session/intake, I will ask you questions about your personal, family, medical and psychiatric history. I use the first several sessions to get to know you, answer any questions you might have about the therapeutic process and develop goals to work toward. It is important for me to create a safe space for you to feel comfortable being vulnerable. I welcome feedback about how you feel I am doing and invite you to freely share about your experience and what you might like to change or have more of during sessions.
I employ techniques from IFS, Somatics, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, ACT, Mindfulness and other strengths and solutions-based approaches. Your goals will be tailored to you and measurable. We will track your progress, identify and tackle barriers and find other opportunities for improvement utilizing handouts and other psycho-educational materials that are relevant to your situation and the improvements you are hoping to make.
My lived experience in the queer community and having family members with mental illness allows me to have a better understanding of you and your challenges. Safety and a strong therapeutic relationship are crucial to your treatment which is why I take great care in cultivating a safe environment. It is such a gift to be able to sit with you and support you in better knowing yourself and reaching your goals. I take great pride in that. I have experience working with ADHD, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, LGBTQ+ issues, suicidal ideations, grief/loss, life transitions, work-related stress and self-esteem/performance-related issues.
I enjoy working with people from all backgrounds and life experience. I most enjoy working with queer individuals as I am a member of this community and recognize the struggle of finding a provider with lived experience.
