About me

Hi, I'm Tim, and I am an LCPC. I believe that there is no growth without challenge, and I have embodied that belief by spending the past several years furthering my education in the field of psychology. I received my Master of Science in Clinical and Professional Counseling from Loyola University Maryland. I have spent several years gaining experience in providing psychotherapy and incorporating nature into my work, most notably by helping Native Americans in Baltimore City and working with the Center for Nature-Informed Therapy. Whether it is through a traumatic experience, grief, or a lifelong struggle, these experiences can be overwhelming and leave us feeling lost. We need help through these times, and with a caring but firm approach, I can help you through your most challenging time.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

My calming presence creates a safe environment where people feel themselves and feel heard, safe, and warm. My first session is all about me getting to know who you are! I will ask questions about your background, but also share information about myself and how I can best help you. Later sessions can be about confronting your fears to reclaiming peace of mind. I'm here to help build the blueprint of your success. My goal for my clients is to help them reach the best version of themselves. It is my belief that change is always possible.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I incorporate nature into my work and find ways that nature can help heal us. By connecting with nature, we can feel less alone, depressed, and anxious! Nature can be a great tool for our mental health, and the best part is that we can connect to nature no matter where we are. However, it is only by developing a deep reciprocal relationship with nature do we receive the benefit. My caring and honest approach helps people to identify what they are feeling and thinking, and how to move forward. Since I use an eclectic approach, I can tailor treatment to the specific person. This allows me to get to know people and make meaningful change. I have had the honor of watching multiple clients go from a place of despair to a place of happiness and living a meaningful life.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Do you have low motivation or racing thoughts when trying to sleep? Maybe your muscles are always tense, or you find yourself feeling frustrated more often. Whether these are due to a traumatic experience, grief, or a lifelong struggle, we can be left feeling overwhelmed and lost. We need help during these seasons of life. I can help you through your most challenging times with a caring, yet firm approach. From confronting fears to reclaiming peace of mind, I'm here to help craft your blueprint to success. I primarily help people in the medical community, young adults, emergency services, and the military.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I combine several different treatment methods to give my clients the best shot at reaching their goals! I believe each person is unique and no one treatment modality is a fit for everyone. In my sessions, I combine CBT, Mindfulness/body relaxation, and humantic modalities.

Humanistic

My primary goal is to ensure that my clients feel safe and heard. By building trust and a relationship with my clients, I can better understand how we can work together and achieve our goals. This means no matter how someone shows up in our time together, they will receive unconditional positive regard!

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to see how our thoughts and actions affect how we view ourselves and the world. It is through processing our immediate thoughts that we can get to the core message or belief, and once we have identified that, we can identify thoughts and behaviors that lead to positive, long-lasting change!

Mind-body approach

I have taught higher education classes on how stress affects the body, and through that, I learned how to identify and releasing our stress and emotions is just as important as processing our thoughts. I am a firm believer that the body holds our emotions, so by learning to listen to what the body is saying to us, we can uncover our hidden feelings. I will also use meditation and body relaxation techniques to help manage stress levels. These are tools that we can use any time, anywhere!

Grief Therapy

Grief is an experience that we all face at some point in our lives. Grief therapy requires much more than just talking; it is learning how to process and make meaning of our pain. I have extensive training on how to process grief and was taught several interventions on what we can do to heal from our losses.
