As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I help individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges with compassion, clarity, and evidence-based care. I provide a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients can feel seen, heard, and empowered to create meaningful change. I work with clients across a variety of life stages and experiences, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, stress management, and personal growth. My goal is to help clients better understand themselves, strengthen their relationships, and develop the tools needed to navigate life with greater confidence and resilience. I am especially passionate about working with women who are navigating the many roles and transitions life brings, including relationships, career changes, motherhood, and identity shifts. I enjoy helping women who may be struggling to balance it all or find themselves in an uncertain “I don’t know” season of life. A special focus of my work is supporting women through pregnancy, postpartum, the transition to motherhood, and other significant life transitions. I am particularly passionate about helping women navigate birth trauma, NICU experiences, pregnancy complications, identity shifts postpartum, and the emotional challenges that can arise during this season of life. Together, we work to process these experiences, build resilience, reconnect with a sense of self, and create greater balance and fulfillment. I also support couples through transitions such as marriage, pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, and the transition to parenthood, helping partners strengthen communication, deepen connection, and navigate change as a team. My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and tailored to your unique needs, drawing from evidence-based modalities. I believe therapy is about more than symptom relief. It is about reconnecting with yourself, strengthening relationships, building resilience, and creating a life that feels aligned with your values.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I lead with empathy, a sense of humor, and a genuine belief that connection matters. I create a warm, inviting space where we begin by exploring your story and what has led you to seek support. In our first session, we’ll focus on getting to know each other and creating a comfortable, supportive environment. We’ll discuss the challenges you’re facing, the hopes you hold for yourself, and the changes you’d like to see, while also reviewing practical details like confidentiality, scheduling, and how our sessions will work. This first meeting is a chance for you to share at your own pace—there’s no pressure to have everything figured out. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, understood, and hopeful about the path ahead.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

With nearly 9 years of clinical experience providing outpatient therapy, I’m especially well positioned to support children, adolescents, adults, and families navigating emotional, behavioral, and life challenges. What makes my therapeutic approach stand out is the way I blend warmth, humor, and genuine connection with evidence-based practices. Clients often tell me they appreciate that therapy with me feels safe, collaborative, and practical while still offering meaningful insight and lasting tools. My integrative, strengths-based approach is designed to empower clients, reduce distress, and support meaningful, lasting growth. I believe therapy should be a place you look forward to- a space where you feel safe, supported, and able to experience real change.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with clients who are ready to put their best foot forward—even if they’re unsure where to start—because taking action is the first step toward change. I especially connect with clients who value a collaborative approach, where we work together to uncover strengths, explore challenges, and create meaningful growth.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help clients identify unhelpful thought patterns, develop healthier coping skills, and improve emotional regulation. I also tailor CBT to each client’s developmental stage, strengths, and goals.

Motivational Interviewing

incorporate Motivational Interviewing into my work, a collaborative and client-centered approach that helps people explore and resolve ambivalence about change. This approach empowers clients to take ownership of their growth and move forward at a pace that feels comfortable and sustainable.

Psychodynamic

incorporate a psychodynamic perspective into my work, which focuses on understanding how past experiences, early relationships, and unconscious patterns influence current thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By exploring these underlying themes in a supportive and collaborative environment, clients gain deeper self-awareness and insight, which can lead to meaningful and lasting change. This approach helps clients recognize recurring patterns, heal unresolved issues, and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.

Interpersonal

I incorporate Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) principles into my work with clients navigating relationship challenges, life transitions, grief, and perinatal and postpartum concerns. My approach focuses on helping clients strengthen communication, improve relationships, build support systems, and navigate changing roles with greater confidence and resilience.

Compassion Focused

I incorporate Compassion-Focused Therapy principles to help clients develop self-compassion, reduce self-criticism, and navigate difficult emotions with greater kindness and understanding. My approach supports clients in building emotional resilience, fostering self-acceptance, and creating a healthier relationship with themselves.

My session with Marissa was better than I could have ever imagined. This is my first time going to therapy as an adult, and so I was a bit nervous as to what it entails. Marissa was so warm and open from the second we started the call, which made me feel so comfortable to be myself and open up with no holding back. She really listens and provides thoughtful feedback. I highly recommend Marissa for anyone looking for a comfortable & satisfying therapy experience!
