Ladybird earned her Master’s degree in Counseling from California State University, Sacramento in 2014. Since then, she has provided compassionate, evidence-based care in both individual and family settings, drawing upon an integrative therapeutic approach tailored to each client’s unique needs. Her therapeutic style emphasizes building a strong, trusting relationship founded on empathy, respect, and collaboration. Ladybird incorporates evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Informed Care, and Client-Centered Therapy to help clients develop insight, emotional regulation, and practical coping skills. She believes therapy is a journey of self-discovery and empowerment, where clients are encouraged to explore their strengths, confront challenges, and create meaningful change at their own pace. Committed to creating a safe and supportive space, Ladybird strives to help clients feel understood and validated, fostering resilience and hope throughout the healing process. She works closely with clients to establish personalized treatment goals and equips them with tools to navigate life’s complexities both in and outside of the therapy room. Originally from North Carolina, Ladybird enjoys returning home to visit and indulge in classic Southern cuisine. She is also passionate about outdoor activities such as backpacking, camping, and hiking, which provide her with a meaningful connection to nature and balance in her life. Outside of her clinical work, she volunteers as a foster parent for a local animal shelter and finds great joy in caring for animals in need.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The initial therapy session is designed to establish rapport and collaboratively develop treatment goals. During this time, I will use open-ended questions to gain a comprehensive understanding of your therapeutic needs, personal interests, and any relevant background information. I also welcome any questions you may have about the therapeutic process or my professional experience. My approach is grounded in empathy and creating a supportive, nonjudgmental environment. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths is recognizing the critical importance of mental health and ensuring that individual needs are acknowledged and met. When these needs go unmet, it becomes difficult to reach one’s full potential or access the support necessary to truly thrive. I bring a deep sense of empathy, trust, and compassion to my work—qualities that are fundamental to how I connect with others and determine the most effective ways to offer meaningful support.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Military veterans, spouses of active duty/deployed, foster youth, underrepresented populations.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a structured, short-term therapy that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors contributing to emotional distress. Through techniques like cognitive restructuring and behavioral exercises, clients learn to challenge distorted thinking, develop healthier perspectives, and adopt more effective coping strategies. CBT is practical and goal-oriented, often involving homework between sessions to reinforce learning. It is commonly used to treat conditions such as anxiety, depression, phobias, and PTSD.
