Hello! I’m Melissa Bautista, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with over seven years of experience supporting clients through life’s challenges. I provide telehealth therapy across California and strive to create a space that feels safe, supportive, and easy to talk in. I work with clients who may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, or navigating transitions, and I help them build practical tools to manage stress, regulate emotions, and better understand themselves.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
The first session is a time for us to get to know each other and begin building a foundation for our work together. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you’re hoping to gain, and any concerns or questions you may have. There is no pressure to share everything at once, we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to better understand your experiences, current challenges, and personal goals. We’ll also review important background information and discuss how therapy works, including confidentiality and expectations. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and more at ease. Together, we’ll begin identifying areas of focus and what you’d like to work toward in therapy. By the end of the session, many clients feel a sense of relief and clarity, knowing they’ve taken an important first step and that they don’t have to navigate things alone.
The treatment methods and tools I utilize
My approach to therapy is to be able to aid the client in developing the tools needed to deal with complicated feelings and situations. While also giving the client space to express their stories and guide them in re-authoring their stories in a way that is more consistent with their goals.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel genuinely heard and understood. Many clients share that they feel comfortable opening up early in our work together, which allows therapy to feel collaborative and meaningful from the start. I balance warmth and empathy with a practical, skills-based approach. I help clients develop tools they can use in their daily lives to manage anxiety, stress, emotional overwhelm, and difficult relationships, while also exploring deeper patterns that may be impacting their well-being. My approach is thoughtful, client-centered, and tailored to each individual rather than one-size-fits-all.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work well with clients who are open to self-reflection and motivated to develop practical tools to cope with life’s challenges, even if they’re unsure where to start. Some are navigating pressures of life, family dynamics, identity development, or relationship stress, while others are seeking clarity, balance, and emotional relief during periods of change. My ideal clients value a supportive, nonjudgmental space where they can feel heard, respected, and empowered. Together, we focus on building emotional awareness, strengthening coping skills, and creating meaningful change that aligns with each client’s values, strengths, and personal goals.
