Welcome! My name is Jamie. I am a licensed provider in Mississippi, North Carolina and Washington state. I have been practicing in the behavioral health profession for over 8+ years. This profession has allowed me the privilege to learn from and collaborate with various individuals at different points of their life journey. My approach to therapy reflects compassionate care, curiosity and cultural humility. It is ultimately my goal to bring to the forefront the skills and resources each individual already possesses and explore the best ways to utilize them.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During the first session, I will share my therapy approach and explain limits of confidentiality in therapy. I will then review the intake information and provide space for the individual to share what prompted the initial session for therapy services. I will explore current ways of coping that have aided the individual in managing the presenting situation. I will then explore the hopeful outcomes the individual may have for the future to ensure goals are aligned with the individual's desires.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Empathy is a strength I lead with in my therapeutic approach. I believe individuals want to be seen without judgement as they try to navigate life's challenges. I work to understand the lens an individual may view the world based on their experiences. Solution-focused orientated would be the next area of strength. I look to highlight the skills people are currently using and have used in the past to solve issues in their lives. My primary modalities include individual and family therapy using an eclectic mixture of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I believe I am in the best position to serve individuals who are focused on the present and the future they would like to see for themselves. There are many areas in therapy I collaborate with individuals on including, but not limited: anxiety, depression, adjustment difficulties and social skills building. In my career, the populations I have engaged with most frequently are children, youth and adolescence, young adults, military connected spouses, and BIPOC communities.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a classic therapeutic method geared toward modifying thoughts and exploring alternate behaviors to improve overall health and approach to life. In my experience, CBT is helpful in exploring multiple possibilities for viewing ways to solve challenges. I practice this approach with the understanding that cultural humility should be considered and included based on each individual's goals. I utilize this approach to support clients in staying in the present moment and actively participating in experimenting with different actions that could possibly better support them during similar challenges in the future.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution Focused Brief Therapy is focused on the here and now. This approach works to allow clients to better realize their goals and to highlight all the ways in which the client has been working towards the future they envisions. In my experience individuals like this approach as it minimizes focus on the problem and is more encouraging because it highlights the individual's previous success in managing behavior and emotions through similar issues.
