LCSW, 6 years of experience
New to Grow
Welcome! My name is Katie and I am a LCSW (licensed clinical social worker). I have worked in various settings (residential, home-based, outpatient in person and virtual) for therapy and general case management for all sorts of populations (children to more experienced individuals). I have experience working with families and individuals ranging from family dynamics to substance use to lack of self-worth and all the in between things that make us, well us.
In our first session, we will talk about expectations out of therapy (unfortunately, I don’t have a magic wand, as much as I wish I did!) and the goals in mind for our time together. Of course, getting to know one another to gain understanding on how to navigate this space to maximize your progress in all the ways. Things to expect from me: sense of humor, fumbling through formalities, and genuine interest in you and your life goals.
Hmm, how do I put this one, well I would say one of my greatest strengths is being understanding with all kinds of people, but also direct with all the compassion possible. I am authentic, warm, flexible, and optimistic. I want to support you in your journey of self-discovery on your life and provide some suggestions to aid in the work you are already doing for yourself.
My jam are people that want to become aware of themselves in various ways to connect the dots in their life in order to correct the dots to a healthier version of themselves. Anyone who wants understanding within their own relationships, about themselves or others; someone who cannot believe they are worth having a good life or possibly just needing extra support or outside perspective due to a life transition. The desire to mature in your thoughts, emotions, and responses are all that is needed to start the path of healing towards a more whole you. So, if you are curious about yourself and others, but don’t know where to start to explore or what to address first, then let’s chat!
I have used this modality most of my life without actually knowing it until I became a therapist. I am a firm believer that our thoughts impact, well, our whole life. It is not always that simple, but I truly believe that if we become aware of our thought life then we can rewire our brain process to gain better understanding of how to manage ourselves and this beautiful thing called life.
I have begun the beginning trainings in this modality, which I feel (pun intended) connects well with CBT, as our thoughts are very much connected to our emotions, or is it the other way around? Either way, our emotions are an important part of our make-up and impacts more than we are usually aware of. So let’s focus on those emotions and allow them room to be so that we can better navigate life.
I believe our faith majorly impacts our mental health, in so many ways. I would be less than if I did not acknowledge that our faith in a higher power is a strength to be built upon and sometimes the only way we survived the day. It is my honor to incorporate your faith in therapy as much as you are willing.
