New to Grow
I have been working in the the behavioral health field for over 15 years. While I 'm originally from Washington State, my initial training was in the state of New Mexico where I studied counseling and therapy. Through my career I've been fortunate to work with a variety of cultural and spiritual backgrounds. through my early experience working with clients I learned the importance of viewing the self as a whole which is made up potentially conflicting parts, that the emotional past is intertwined with our emotional present, and that things like trauma and grief don't simply fade with time but have a compounding effect. I've served in a variety of roles from therapist, clinical manager and clinical director to clinical supervisor for therapists early in their careers.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Initially it will be important for us to connect through an intake in which we examine various aspects of your person, past and present. This will be an opportunity for us to start priming our process in which we're working together to dive deeper into various aspects of your self. While this fir session may feel a bit like a marathon of questions, the more thorough we are initially, the more ground we can cover in latter sessions.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My approach has been described by clients as particularly powerful in its integration of the emotional past and present and allowing a non-judgmental space where they feel safe to say aloud what they've never said before. This allows for clients to be able to gain new insights and perspectives on narratives that in some cases have been with them their entire lives. These root pieces of a safe space, non-judgment and shared insight allow us to work together through the processing of the challenges that are brought into session. Whether it's profound depression, a creeping feeling that something in life is missing, or weighing going no-contact, this process allows momentum that lets you discover what you're road to whole looks and feels like.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I have had the privilege over my career of being able to work with clients from a variety of cultural and spiritual backgrounds including those who identified as rural, Indigenous, Latino/a/ex and AAPI. Having been raised in a rural environment in Washington State where mental health had a big impact but was not talked about, it was always a goal of mine to come back to Washington after my training to give back to my community. My goal is to help all clients who trust me with their stories in their process of unpacking the role of their emotional pasts on the present and how they can rewrite their narratives to build their futures.
Eclectic
The emotional past and present as distinct entities is a myth. We explore the connections between these two in a framework blending elements of psychodynamic, attachment based, and cognitive approaches.
