Hi, I’m Margarette Charless, a Licensed Professional Counselor & Licensed Addiction COunselor in the State of New Jersey that is dedicated to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges with compassion and clarity. I specialize in supporting people struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and self-esteem, especially those who feel overlooked or misunderstood. I draw from evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), while also being flexible and eclectic to meet you where you are. This means we may focus on practical coping tools, improving communication, or processing deeper emotions that keep you feeling weighed down. I believe therapy is not about “fixing” you—it’s about helping you understand yourself more fully, break free from unhelpful cycles, and build the kind of life and relationships you want. In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other and talk about what brings you to therapy. I’ll ask questions to better understand your history, current challenges, and goals, but there’s no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can feel heard without judgment. Together, we’ll begin mapping out a plan for therapy that feels realistic and tailored to your needs—whether that’s learning coping skills, improving communication, or exploring deeper emotions. By the end of our first session, you’ll have a clearer sense of what therapy with me looks like and how we can move forward together.

I work best with individuals who are ready to make meaningful changes but feel overwhelmed by where to start. Many of my clients are Gen Z, millennials, and women of color navigating anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or low self-esteem. Some are coping with cultural or family pressures that make it hard to prioritize themselves, while others are tired of repeating the same patterns in their relationships or daily life. If you’re feeling stuck, misunderstood, or exhausted from carrying everything on your own, I’m here to help. My ideal clients are open to exploring their thoughts and emotions in a safe, judgment-free space and want to build healthier coping skills, stronger relationships, and greater self-confidence.
CBT is used to changed unhelpful thinking patterns, which changes emotions and actions. CBT helps clients learn how thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected. It is further used to challenged negative or distorted thoughts and replacing them with more balanced ones.
DBT teaches clients to accept themselves as they are while also working toward healthier behaviors. It exercise emotional regulation, which gives people tools to manage overwhelming feelings without being controlled by them. Helps reduces impulsive behaviors and self harming by teaching Skills like distress tolerance help clients survive emotional crises without turning to destructive coping. In addition, it helps improves relations by implementing healthy communication skills, which teaches boundary setting, assertiveness, and maintain self-respect in relationships. Mindfulness is another critical part, which helps patients learn the concept of staying present and grounded within the moment instead focusing on the future.
EFT helps Clients learn to recognize and name what they feel, instead of avoiding, suppressing, or being overwhelmed by emotions. In addition, it helps Transforms negative patterns, such as Unprocessed emotions (like shame, fear, or hurt) often drive unhealthy cycles in relationships. EFT helps shift those into adaptive responses (like self-compassion, assertiveness, or secure connection). EFT is used to Reduce emotional distress by processing feelings in a safe space, clients often report decreased depression, anxiety, and relationship conflict. As well as , accessing underlying needs: Emotions often point to unmet needs (like love, safety, or validation).
Eclectic Therapy is a blend of different therapy techniques such as CBT, DBT, EFT that targets and address different needs for the patient. Sometimes one therapeutic intervention can target one problem, whereas another intervention may be helpful with targetting another issue simultaneously.
