Hi there! I'm a Licensed Psychologist based in Georgia. I received my PhD from the University of South Carolina and have been practicing for a combined 6 years between graduate school, predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship. I have worked in both outpatient and hospital settings. I help teens, young adults, and adults struggling with the effects of trauma. I specialize in evidence-based trauma treatment. I believe for most clients, therapy shouldn't be indefinite and I think it's unfair for providers to keep clients coming back if they aren't seeing desired changes or setting new treatment goals. Most trauma treatments last around 8-15 sessions. My goal is not for you to feel everything is "perfect" by the end, but for you to feel confident in your ability to use the skills you've learned in your everyday life. I believe in you!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we'll focus on getting to know each other and the challenges you're facing. We'll use that to determine which treatment type is best for you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having a strong evidence-based trauma background, I know how to create a trauma informed environment where clients feel supported and validated, yet challenged to become their best self.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I’ve been using CBT for over 5 year and often use it as the basis for my trauma-specific therapy. It’s helped dozens of clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their overwhelming emotions. CBT helps you recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are intertwined.

Narrative

I received small group training in Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) to treat PTSD and experiences of trauma. I have since used NET with patients with extensive trauma histories and found it to be really rewarding. NET allows clients to address multiple instances of trauma instead of only focusing on one.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

I was trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) 4 years ago and have used it in both individual and group settings to address trauma. CPT is a homework heavy therapy with several worksheets to be used outside of therapy. It is a great option for clients who like to have tangible tasks between sessions.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I was trained in ACT and find it is often helpful for clients who have genuinely tried CBT but didn't connect with that treatment. Instead of challenging your thoughts, ACT focusing on learning how to accept your thoughts for what they are, yet still living according to their values.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT) is a treatment for children and teens who have PTSD from some sort of trauma experience. It uses principles of CBT- challenging thoughts- to address the aftermath of trauma in a way that is developmentally appropriate for youth.
