New to Grow
Hello, I'm Katheryn! Navigating major life transitions can feel overwhelming, especially when life moves in unexpected directions. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 20 years of experience, I specialize in supporting individuals across the lifespan as they move through periods of change with greater clarity, resilience, and self-compassion. I strive to create a supportive, collaborative space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered. I help clients make sense of their emotions, find meaning through difficult moments, and reconnect with sources of hope, purpose, and strength.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
During our first session, we’ll get to know each other, discuss the concerns you’re facing, and develop a plan tailored to your unique needs. Therapy with me is collaborative and deeply human. You can expect a safe, non-judgmental environment; practical tools to help you manage difficult emotions; space to explore meaning, identity, and resilience; and support that is thoughtfully tailored to your goals and pace.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I believe that each person's journey is unique, and therapy is most effective when it honors your strengths, values, and lived experience. By blending evidence-based tools with warm, grounded therapeutic presence, I help clients increase insight, develop practical coping strategies, and cultivate greater emotional balance. Together, we work to understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck and build new pathways toward growth and well-being. My clients often describe me as calm, compassionate, and grounded- someone who can hold space for both sorrow and growth.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
For the first 15 years of my career, I had the privilege of working as a clinical social worker within a hospice organization, walking alongside individuals and families as they navigated some of life's most profound challenges. This experience deeply informs my therapeutic work and has given me a compassionate, nuanced understanding of how grief and loss touches us all- not only through the death of a loved one, but also through life changes such as shifting identities, relationship transitions, illness, and other moments that reshape our sense of self. I work with adults of all ages who are navigating major life transitions across the lifespan, including emerging adulthood, parenthood, career changes, relationship changes, retirement, the empty nest stage, and aging. I also support individuals experiencing grief and bereavement, as well as those coping with anxiety or stress related to change. Many of my clients come to therapy during times of uncertainty, overwhelm, or disconnection, seeking space to understand their emotions and regain a sense of balance. My work often includes supporting caregivers- whether they are caring for aging parents, a child with special needs, or navigating the emotional terrain of perinatal or postpartum depression or anxiety. Whether you're facing a transition you chose or one that was thrust upon you, you don't have to move through it alone.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a type of talk therapy that helps you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected. By learning to spot unhelpful thinking patterns and replace them with more balanced ones, you can improve how you feel and handle life's challenges more effectively.
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness-based therapy helps you learn to focus on the present moment in a calm and nonjudgmental way. It teaches you to notice your thoughts and feelings without getting caught up in them, so you can respond to stress and difficult emotions more calmly and clearly. Over time, this can help you feel more balanced, less anxious, and more in control of your reactions.
Eclectic
Eclectic therapy is a flexible approach that combines different types of therapy to fit your unique needs. Instead of just sticking to one method, we will use tools and techniques from several approaches to find out what works best for you. The goal is to create a personalized plan that supports your goals and helps you make lasting changes.
