LCPC, 10 years of experience
Hi, I’m Adriana Butcher, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) with a passion for helping individuals heal from trauma, navigate life transitions, and build healthier relationships with themselves and others. I specialize in trauma-informed care, addiction recovery, and emotional wellness, using approaches like CBT, DBT, and mindfulness to support healing and personal growth. My goal is to create a safe, empowering space where you feel seen, supported, and equipped to take meaningful steps toward change.
In our first session, you can expect a warm, supportive space where we’ll begin getting to know each other. I’ll ask questions about what brings you to therapy, your background, and what you hope to gain from our work together. You’ll never be rushed or pressured to share more than you’re ready for—I move at your pace. This session is about building trust, exploring your goals, and helping you feel grounded and understood. My priority is to make sure you feel safe, heard, and empowered to take the next steps in your healing journey.
What sets my approach apart is the way I combine evidence-based methods like CBT and DBT with a trauma-informed, culturally responsive lens. I don’t just focus on surface-level symptoms—I work with you to uncover the deeper emotional wounds and patterns driving your behaviors. My clients often share that they feel genuinely seen, not judged, and leave sessions with real tools they can use right away. I blend structure and empathy to help you move from survival mode to thriving, always honoring your pace, your voice, and your story.
I’m best positioned to support individuals who have experienced trauma, are navigating substance use challenges, or feel stuck in cycles of emotional overwhelm, self-doubt, or survival mode. Many of my clients are women, young adults, and system-impacted individuals who are seeking a safe, nonjudgmental space to unpack their pain, develop healthier coping skills, and reclaim their voice. Whether you're working through anxiety, grief, anger, or the lasting impact of childhood experiences, I walk alongside you with compassion, cultural humility, and practical tools to help you heal and grow at your own pace.

I am amazed every time I come out of a session with Adriana Butcher. Her style is so gracious and she always has new tools for me to grow and get better.
As a clinical therapist and AOD counselor, I regularly utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to support clients in identifying, challenging, and reframing maladaptive thoughts and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress and substance use. I have applied CBT in both individual and group settings, particularly with clients who have experienced trauma, are involved in community violence, or are navigating recovery from substance use disorders. In my practice, I incorporate core CBT techniques such as cognitive restructuring, identifying cognitive distortions, behavioral activation, and the development of coping skills. I guide clients through structured interventions like thought records and ABC (Activating Event – Belief – Consequence) models to help them increase insight into the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and actions. These strategies empower clients to replace harmful thinking patterns with healthier, reality-based perspectives, which often leads to increased self-efficacy and improved emotional regulation. CBT has been especially effective when working with individuals affected by complex trauma and high-risk environments. I often integrate trauma-informed principles with CBT, ensuring that the approach remains client-centered, culturally responsive, and sensitive to each person’s lived experience.
In my clinical work, I integrate Humanistic therapy principles to create a warm, nonjudgmental, and empowering environment where clients feel seen, heard, and valued. I believe that healing and growth occur within the context of authentic connection, and I strive to uphold the core tenets of the humanistic approach—unconditional positive regard, empathy, and congruence—in every therapeutic relationship. Whether working with individuals healing from childhood trauma, navigating substance use recovery, or facing community violence, I prioritize the whole person over their diagnosis or presenting problem. I support clients in exploring their inner strengths, values, and sense of purpose, often guiding them toward greater self-awareness and self-acceptance. My role is not to "fix" clients, but to walk alongside them as they uncover their capacity for change, resilience, and healing. Humanistic therapy aligns with my trauma-informed framework by fostering safety, autonomy, and collaboration. It is particularly impactful when working with clients who may have experienced marginalization, mistrust in systems, or a history of invalidation. Through presence, curiosity, and genuine regard, I help clients reconnect with their voice, their dignity, and their innate potential.
