I will put your mind at ease by engaging with you to develop a therapeutic rapport, listening to you attentively, ensuring you feel supported, and validating your thoughts and feelings. I will also provide the necessary psycho-education to help you gain insight, learn healthy ways to cope and/or handle difficult situations so that you will feel more empowered to improve your quality of life. (Please note that my availability includes 3 days a week from 9a to 6p. (the last session of the day will be scheduled at 5p); and Saturdays twice a month from 2p to 5p.)
First session
The first session is very important as we begin to build a rapport so that my client will feel at ease with opening up about the problems/situations that brought them to therapy. We will review the documents that you signed so that you can ask any questions you might have about them and for me to make sure there are no misunderstandings. We will also begin talking about your treatment plan and the importance of setting goals so that you achieve positive outcomes when you've completed therapy.
Strengths
I care about each clients and I understand the importance of not putting clients in a box. Your experience is your own because you are a unique individual. I want you to feel comfortable sharing your story(ies) without feeling judged and without feeling like you won't be believed.
Ideal clients
I have worked with diverse client who have experienced a variety of challenges; some of those challenges include depression, anxiety, trauma, interpersonal relationship issues, racial/cultural stress, anger, and grief. I enjoy assisting individuals who have a desire and readiness to improve their lives, and who are willing to be challenged as needed.
