During our first session I go over confidentiality, expectations, and any questions that you have for me. I let my client's know what type of therapist I am and how my sessions typically flow. The first session is our intake so there are many questions but at any point you can skip questions or come back to them. I want to know why you have made the brave decision to come to therapy and what you want to get out of therapy. We will develop goals to address your symptoms and that support the outcome you want in therapy. I enjoy being interactive with my client, genuine and provide a safe place. I teach client skills in session and encourage client to use them outside of session. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND. I CHARGE A $75 LATE CANCELLATION FEE FOR APPOINTMENTS CANCELED LESS THAN 24 HOURS. I utilize multiple skills and strategies from a wide range of therapy modalities that are evidence based treatment. CBT is an evidence based treatment that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. Feelings, thoughts and behaviors are connected- when something triggering or stressful happens, the way we think about it can affect how we feel and what we do. During session I will teach client how to implement skills, notice unhelpful/negative thought patterns that keep client stuck, develop healthier thinking patterns, reframing thoughts, more balanced/helpful thoughts, and coping strategies. I help clients look at behaviors- the things client does or avoids and how to make changes to improve mood and reduce stress. I enjoy teaching clients a wide range of coping skills such as deep breathing skills, mindfulness, mediation, and relaxation response to help manage the symptoms they experience. I have advanced training in CBT and attend updated trainings yearly.
I utilize multiple skills and strategies from ACT Acceptance and Commitment Therapy during session as well as to teach client how to implement skills outside of session. I utilize skills to help clients live a more meaningful life by accepting difficult thoughts and feelings. My aim is to help clients identify their strengths, values and how to implement them in their life by taking committed action. I want to help clients be more present and accepting of emotions. I have attended trainings in ACT.
I provide psychoeducation to clients in session, about therapy, about emotions, and how to implement strategies. We will not only focus on what is going wrong, the struggles or difficulty but exploring strneghts, resiliency, and successes. My goal is to help you recognize the tools and qualities you already have inside you, even if they are buried right now. I help clients build confidence, hope, and a sense of direction as we work toward your goals.
I utilize multiple skills and strategies from Compassion Focused approach during session as well as to teach client how to implement skills outside of session. My goal is to help client's focus on developing a kinder, more understanding relationship with oneself, especially when you are struggling. We will work together to build self compassion, how to treat self better, giving self credit, acknowledging the strength, learn how you respond to threats, and ways to calm the nervous system. I want clients to actively work on practicing compassion to help client feel safer, more grounded and connected to self and others. I have training in Compassion focused.
