Hi! I am a licensed clinical professional counselor based in Maryland. I have worked in the counseling field for about 20 years. I love helping people deal with change as they face life transitions. I believe in renewing my skills to adapt to the changing evidence in the field of counseling. I recently became trained in EMDR and follow closely the work of Chris Germer who applied mindfulness to therapy.
In our first session, we will begin building a relationship--that's what counseling is. Through our relationship, we will build a plan collaboratively to address concerns so that you can live your life with purpose and become your best version of yourself. The first session will also allow you to ask questions about my background to ensure there is a "fit" between us.
Having worked in the counseling field for many years, I feel confident that we will forge a path together to overcome the barriers that are holding you back whether in your career, interpersonal relationships, family conflict or parenting issues. The result will be your ability to savor the good times while you build strength and resiliency to weather hard times. Our work together will help you live more fully and mindfully while you learn to give yourself compassion and kindness.
I love working with people deal with every-day anxiety that comes from life transitions. These life transitions may come from changes in the workforce, changing careers, becoming a parent, dealing with children leaving home, or retiring. I especially love helping women see themselves more fully and employ self-compassion as they typically juggle parenting, career issues, marriage, and other family relationships.
I am a humanistic/relation-oriented therapist who believes in your strengths to help you lead your best life. By establishing a trusting relationship, we collaboratively work together to create solutions that lead to your ability to enjoy life more fully.
I believe each client has unique strengths to uncover in therapy. These strengths will launch new discoveries to help you lead your best life.
I use an eclectic approach that involves research-based interventions to help you uncover patterns of behavior, thoughts and feelings that may be holding you back in your life and career.
Among these research-based approaches, I may use a cognitive-behavioral approach that will help you to change these behaviors, thoughts and feelings that are keeping you "stuck."
I recently received training in EMDR and am working toward certification.
