LCSW, 6 years of experience
New to Grow
Hi, I’m Asia Nyamekye, LCSW, licensed in NY, NJ, and TX. I help adults who appear calm and capable on the outside but feel anxious, overwhelmed, or disconnected on the inside. My style is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed, and I focus on slowing things down, getting to the root of what’s going on, and helping you feel grounded and supported rather than stretched thin and on autopilot. With more than ten years of clinical experience, including six years in private practice, I’m here to provide a space where you can reconnect with yourself and move toward clarity, balance, and steadier emotional footing.
Our first session is a chance for you to slow down and settle in. I’ll invite you to share what brought you to therapy, what you’ve been carrying, and what you hope will feel different moving forward. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out, we'll go at a pace you're comfortable with. I’ll ask thoughtful questions to understand your history, your stressors, and your strengths, and I’ll explain how I work so you know what to expect. By the end of the session, we’ll identify your goals together and begin shaping a plan that feels realistic and supportive for you. Most clients leave the first appointment feeling heard, understood, and a little lighter knowing they don’t have to navigate things alone.
What stands out about my therapeutic approach is the way I support clients with warmth while also helping them think more clearly and compassionately about themselves. I tailor my work to each person rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. I create a space where clients can slow down, understand their patterns, and reconnect with their strengths. I guide the process with intention and curiosity so clients feel supported as they grow, not pushed or rushed. People often tell me they leave sessions feeling more grounded, more understood, and more confident in their ability to move through life.
I’m the right fit for people who are motivated to feel better but don’t want to do it alone anymore. My ideal clients are often high-achievers, caregivers, leaders, or people who “hold it all together” for others while struggling internally. They want relief from anxiety, burnout, stress, or major life transitions and are ready for a therapy space that feels safe, non-judgmental, genuinely supportive and a place to unpack what’s beneath the surface and build a calmer, more connected version of themselves.
I integrate trauma-informed care throughout my professional practice by creating a safe, respectful, and empowering environment for every individual I work with. My experience includes recognizing the impact of trauma on behavior, communication, and emotional regulation, and tailoring my support to reduce triggers and avoid re-traumatization. I prioritize collaboration, transparency, and client choice, ensuring that people feel seen, heard, and in control of their own progress. By focusing on strengths, building trust, and promoting self-advocacy, I support individuals in developing resilience and achieving meaningful goals at a pace that feels right for them.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help individuals understand the link between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I support clients to identify unhelpful thinking patterns and develop practical coping strategies that encourage positive change. My approach is collaborative, structured, and goal-focused, empowering people to build skills they can use independently in daily life.
I use an attachment-based approach to support individuals in strengthening their sense of safety, connection, and trust in relationships. My work focuses on understanding how early experiences shape current patterns and helping clients build healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. I prioritize emotional attunement, secure connection, and consistent, supportive interactions to promote healing and resilience.
I integrate mindfulness into my work by helping individuals build awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations in the present moment. I support clients in developing grounding and self-regulation skills through practices such as breathing, body awareness, and mindful reflection. This approach promotes calm, emotional balance, and a greater ability to respond rather than react to everyday challenges.
I use Motivational Interviewing to support individuals in exploring their own goals, strengths, and motivations for change. My approach is collaborative and non-judgmental, focusing on evoking personal insight rather than directing or persuading. By using open questions, reflective listening, and affirmation, I help clients resolve ambivalence and build confidence in their ability to make positive, self-driven decisions.
