LPC/MHSP, 8 years of experience
New to Grow
Hello! My name is Simone. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Mental Health Service Provider (LPC-MHSP) in the state of Tennessee. I received my Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lipscomb University in 2018. I value treating everyone with respect, patience, and compassion. I will work with what you bring to the table with no judgement. I am here to support and empower you in your journey of growth, healing, and change!
Counseling/therapy can be like sitting in front of someone with a 5000-piece jigsaw puzzle and working together to put certain pieces together as we aim to move forward from whatever life has brought your way (the puzzle pieces). I am here to provide a safe space for you to discuss your challenges without any external judgement. The more open and honest you are in sharing and providing helpful context, the more I can assist in not only understanding, but helping you to achieve the outcomes that you are looking for. I will challenge you to think deeper and to work on specific areas even outside of our scheduled sessions. You only get out of this what you put into it. If you come to the table knowing what you want to address or work on, then we can be that much more productive. Even if you don't know where to start, that's okay too! We can figure it out together! Just know that therapy is a process. Some may even call it a journey. It is unlikely that everything will resolve overnight, let alone in a few sessions. I encourage you to commit yourself to attending therapy weekly so the sake of consistency and accountability. Each of our sessions remains confidential. In the state of Tennessee, Licensed Professional Counselors are mandated to report abuse. This means that the exceptions of maintaining confidentiality include disclosure of current/recent child abuse, elder abuse, or abuse of someone who cannot physically or mentally fend for themselves; or if there is disclosure of current suicidal thoughts with a plan to harm yourself, current homicidal thoughts or plans to cause harm to others. Please know that there is a possibility that we may run into each other in-person due to living in the same state (and for some, in the same city). In the case that we cross paths in public, to maintain your privacy, I will not acknowledge you. However, if you decide to greet me, I will happily speak to you without discussing your therapy-related matters. Also, due to maintaining professional and ethical boundaries, please do not request to "friend" or "follow" my private pages on social media.
I am honest and authentic. I am direct, yet gentle. I will encourage you and challenge you. I am an open book and do not mind sharing about myself if and only when it can be helpful regarding the therapeutic rapport and process.
I enjoy working with clients who are looking for assistance regarding coping with addictions, navigating through LGBTQ+ related issues, anger management skills, improving motivation, self-esteem, and self-worth/confidence.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can assist with addressing impulsivity, poor decision making, and understanding the emotional reasoning and thought process that is experienced that led to any form of behavior. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy also addresses cognitive distortions and how to overcome / challenge negative thought patterns. I utilize this method regarding assisting with emotional intelligence, anger management, anxiety, and impulse control. This has been helpful in my practice for approximately 8 years.
I have utilized Strength-Based treatment for approximately 8 years. I have found it to be helpful with people who have low self-esteem or lack of confidence.
I have utilized Motivational Interviewing for approximately 4 years. I have found it helpful for clients who desire to see any form of change in their lives.
I have utilized Solution Focused Brief Treatment for approximately 8 years. I have found it helpful for clients in search of a specific, obtainable outcome.
