As an LGBTQ+ person today, it’s easy to feel like everything is unraveling while you’re just trying to hold it together. If you’re exploring your identity, coming out or transitioning, or struggling to cope in an increasingly hostile world, it can feel overwhelming and hopeless. You might be questioning who you are, what you want, or your relationships. Maybe you’re carrying shame, fear, or doubt, hiding parts of yourself to please others or to stay safe. When these common problems go unspoken and unsupported, the end result can be anxiety, depression, and isolation. You don’t have to face it alone. I'm Linden (they/he), a Philadelphia-based Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in in LGBTQ+ issues and gender-affirming therapy. I provide a safe, judgment-free space for my clients to seek relief, clarity, and a more authentic life. As a queer and trans therapist, I’m familiar with the challenges you may be facing. I earned a Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006 and have held a clinical license since 2014. Over the years, I've supported individuals living with medical, mental health, and substance use concerns as a clinician and supervisor. I have a decade of experience working with LGBTQ+ adults and people living with HIV/AIDS.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During your initial session, I'll make space for you to share your story and goals and ask any questions you may have about working with me. Over the next few sessions, we’ll get to know one another and begin exploring the issues that brought you to therapy in more depth. Then we'll move at your pace, focusing on what feels most important to you. Sometimes our work will involve deep reflection; other times, it may focus on practical tools for navigating daily life. Therapy doesn't happen in a vacuum, and queer and trans people have unique needs. We'll consider your concerns in the context of your past and current experiences.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

As a social worker, my training emphasizes the powerful role that social and environmental factors play in mental health—and humans’ inherent ability to change and grow. My work is rooted in understanding how systemic oppression, community context, and lived experience shape a person’s well-being. This perspective helps me support my clients in navigating the real-world barriers they face.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My clients often come to therapy feeling stuck in unhelpful patterns, overwhelmed by anxiety or depression, or unsure about their future. They may be seeking clarity and direction on issues including sexual orientation and gender identity, coming out or transition, social isolation, relationship or family problems, internalized shame or stigma, body image issues or dysphoria, and low self-esteem. These are common issues, and relief is possible—I encourage you to reach out. Let me know if my cash rate is a barrier for you. I maintain sliding scale slots on my caseload.

My treatment methods

Gender-affirming therapy

Gender is a core part of your identity, shaping how you see yourself and how you move through the world. Navigating life as a transgender, nonbinary, or gender expansive person means dealing with unique stressors—with family or friends, at work, in dating or partnerships, and even physical safety. Whether you’re questioning your gender or already navigating transition, I offer gender-affirming therapy tailored to your needs. We can explore what gender means to you, coming out, social or physical transition, and the myriad ways gender and gender expression can impact your life. I also offer letter writing services for gender-affirming medical care.

Humanistic

My therapeutic approach is humanistic, which can be especially helpful if you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or overwhelmed. This approach taps into your inherent ability to change and grow with a focus on deepening awareness and self-reflection. We’ll take a holistic view of your current concerns within the broader context of your life, relationships, past trauma, and environment rather than viewing them in isolation. And we’ll work together to identify ways you can heal and move forward in alignment with your values and what’s most important to you.
