Do you ever feel anxious or on edge? How about shortness of breath or a racing heartbeat? Or have you experienced a loss of interest in activities you used to love doing, helplessness, or feelings of emptiness? I help individuals manage anxiety and trauma symptoms. Together we can identify what is working and what is not to help get you back on track. We'll use a whole self approach meaning addressing the needs of your body and mind. I also integrate mindful techniques to regulate emotions. Seeking therapy can feel scary, but I am proud of you for making this brave decision. I will be able to provide a safe space for you to discuss any and everything without judgment. I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you observe the source of pain and begin to heal. Let's work together!
In our first session, we will go over confidentiality limits and goals for therapy. I will ask you what you would like to work on in our session, so I can begin to gather education and coping skills for you to practice.
I think my biggest strengths are being a good listener and making genuine connections with clients by walking a mile in your shoes. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the foundation for change.
I love working with individuals who are overcoming trauma, anxiety, and the desire to set boundaries in life. My clients are eager to improve but don't yet have the tools needed to make this goal a reality. They often feel overwhelmed, confused, and/or stuck.

Shayla has been the biggest help in navigating my disorders and words can’t describe how grateful i am to have found a therapist who SEES me. *literally crying as i type this* Being black and an immigrant in America is hard in its own and her being able to empathise with my unique experience even though she hadn’t been through the immigration process and still hearing my struggles and finding ways to bring me to a space of clarity and understanding within myself is a breath of fresh air. Thank U

I enjoyed speaking with Shayla about the issues I’ve been facing in my day to day life, she was very assuring. I really appreciate her for taking the time to listen, I look forward to working forward with her in the future.
I’ve been using CBT in my practice. It’s helped dozens of clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.
Solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) is a short-term, goal-oriented therapy approach that emphasizes identifying and building upon a client's strengths and resources to create solutions to current problems. It focuses on the future and desired outcomes rather than dwelling on the past or analyzing the problem's origins. SFBT is considered a strength-based approach to therapy, in which clients are viewed as experts in their own lives and capable of finding their own solutions.
Person-centered therapy, also known as client-centered therapy, is a humanistic approach. It focuses on creating a supportive and accepting environment where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without judgment.
