LCSW, 12 years of experience
New to Grow
Hello! I’m a licensed clinical social worker with over 10 years of experience in various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and community-based treatment. I graduated from Southern University at New Orleans with both my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Social Work. As a wife and mother, I understand the complexities of life and am passionate about working with clients who have a genuine desire to change their lives for the better. I believe every client is the expert on themselves, and together, we can enhance their ability to function across different areas of life and achieve their treatment goals while prioritizing their safety and respect.
In our first session, you can expect a warm and welcoming environment where we’ll get to know each other better. I’ll ask about your background and what brings you to therapy, and we’ll discuss your goals and any concerns you might have. Together, we’ll create a plan that feels right for you, ensuring you feel safe and respected throughout our time together.
What sets me apart in my therapeutic approach is my commitment to cultural humility and the DEIPAR framework, ensuring that every intervention is culturally appropriate for each individual. My extensive experience across various treatment settings allows me to adapt to each client's unique needs. I prioritize creating a safe space where clients feel heard and supported, while holding them accountable to their goals, which fosters growth and empowerment.
I am best positioned to serve individuals who are ready to make positive changes in their lives, regardless of whether they have been struggling for years or just a few days. My ideal clients share a desire for growth and are looking for a supportive, non-traditional therapeutic experience. They appreciate a collaborative approach where they can express themselves freely while working toward their goals.
I have extensive experience in utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my practice, having worked with a diverse range of clients experiencing issues such as anxiety, depression, and stress-related disorders. My training in CBT includes both theoretical knowledge and practical application, allowing me to adapt the approach to meet individual client needs effectively. In my practice, I approach Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) by starting with an in depth conversation to get to know my clients and understand what they’re struggling with. I believe in meeting each client where they are, which means I tailor my approach to fit their unique needs and experiences. Together, we set clear goals that give us a roadmap for our work. I help clients spot those negative thought patterns that can really bring them down and show them how those thoughts affect their feelings and behaviors. We work on reframing those thoughts, swapping out the negative ones for more positive and realistic perspectives. I also include some hands-on techniques, like exposure therapy for anxiety or scheduling fun activities to help with depression, encouraging clients to engage in things that lift their spirits. Along the way, I teach practical skills like relaxation methods and problem-solving strategies that they can use in real life. We regularly check in on how things are going and tweak the plan as needed, and I often suggest keeping a thought diary to track their progress. Toward the end treatment, we focus on making sure they have the tools to keep moving forward and handle any bumps in the road they may encounter. Overall, I aim to create a supportive space where clients feel empowered to take charge of their mental health.
