New to Grow
Hello! I am an LCSW based in Northeast TN. I have worked in various therapeutic roles over the years, but my main love is crisis work. I find it an honor to help people who are going through the hardest time of their life and be able to walk through everything with them. In that same vein, I am working on getting trained in EMDR and brainspotting, so I can more effectively treat trauma.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, it will be pretty laid-back and will just be about getting to know each other. We will discuss your main reasons for seeking therapy and talk about what has and hasn’t worked in the past. You’ll get a chance to ask any questions, and we will go over policies, expectations, and the therapy process. It will give us both a chance to see if we feel like we are a good fit before we move forward.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
After working crisis for many years, I am very comfortable with talking about tough topics. I have found that people are incredibly resilient and often have a lot more strength than they realize. There is not much that makes me uncomfortable to deal with so I am able to confidently provide a safe, non-judgmental space where my clients can feel truly seen and heard.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My main experience is with older adolescents and adults dealing with depression, anxiety, and trauma. I typically take on a CBT approach, but that varies from person to person. I believe that each person is different and it is not beneficial to take a “cookie cutter” approach so we will work together to figure out what works best for you. No matter which modality we decide to go with, my objective is to help you gain the tools you need to meet your goals.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
My therapeutic modality of choice is CBT as it is one of the most supported by evidence-based studies. I help clients to understand the connection between their thoughts or beliefs and their feelings and actions. By identifying unhelpful thinking patterns, we are able to work together to to gain more productive thought patterns, enabling the client to achieve more self-awareness and reach their goals.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use SFBT to help clients envision solutions to their problems rather than stay focused on the problems. We will discuss what is working and what isn't and learn how to apply that toward achieving the therapeutic goals.
Christian Counseling
If desired, I am able to integrate a more faith-based approach to help the client navigate the intricacies of biblical beliefs and psychology.
