LPC, 24 years of experience
Hello! Thank you for reviewing the information for my online practice, Coleman Counseling. My name is Mrs. Michelle Coleman, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 20 years of experience in the mental health field. I specialize in mood disorders, adjustment disorders, and helping individuals navigate life stressors. Over the years, I have worked with people from diverse backgrounds who bring a wide range of concerns, and I remain passionate about supporting adults as they pursue growth and healing. At Coleman Counseling, I view therapy as a collaborative partnership. Together, we will identify your strengths, set goals, and work toward creating meaningful, positive changes in your life.
The initial appointment is designed to understand your reasons for entering treatment rather than serve as a full counseling session. Before we meet, you will complete an Intake Questionnaire and assessments/screeners to guide our conversation and clinical assessment. This first meeting helps us establish your goals and identify the best approach for your care.
I bring warmth, empathy, and humor into sessions, which helps create a space where you can feel safe, supported, and empowered. I believe in being open and honest in communication, providing direct yet compassionate feedback to help you move forward. My greatest strengths include helping clients identify their personal strengths, reframing unhelpful thought patterns, and building action-oriented strategies that foster long-term progress.
I primarily work with adults who are seeking support with mood regulation, stress management, trauma recovery, and life transitions. Many of my clients are professionals balancing work and personal responsibilities, individuals navigating midlife changes, or students adjusting to new academic and personal demands. I also enjoy working with clients who are ready to actively engage in counseling and apply practical strategies to create positive change.
Through CBT, I help you identify and challenge inaccurate or negative thought patterns that contribute to their emotional distress and maladaptive behaviors. By teaching you how to reframe their thoughts and develop healthier coping mechanisms, I empower you to navigate challenging situations more effectively in the future.
