My name is Hayden Wygant and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Gainesville, Florida. I work with adults and specialize in anxiety, stress, ADHD, depression, bipolar, PTSD, gender identity, sexual orientation, and trauma disorders. I believe that while goals are important for us to move forward in life, goals in therapy are individualized based on what is currently causing disruption in your life, and we will work together to build a treatment plan that is effective for you.
During our first session, the client should expect to use the majority of the session in building a rapport/connection. I like to assess where they are in their mental health journey and help to establish an understanding of what they expect to accomplish while in treatment. Each session will look different and will depend on the individual client.
My communication style is calm, accommodating, personable, and positive. I like to use my extensive knowledge of different modalities of care to help patients, and I believe that building positive rapport with my patients is important for the patient to feel comfortable in sessions.
My therapeutic approach is to use a mix of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy. I believe that it is best to use different modalities of care to accommodate where the patient is currently. To help them navigate towards a better level of mental health awareness. My focus is to help clients reach their greatest level of mental health awareness and help them use different skills to reinforce positive outcomes in their daily lives. I have experience working with all types of people, I have clients from all different backgrounds, races, cultures, and orientations.
I use CBT in practice to help client who are struggling to change behaviors that are impacting their daily activities and lives. CBT is helpful to rewire how we do things, and to help us see or do things in a different way to better are functioning.
I use EFT in practice to help clients grow in their emotional intelligence. To help gain a better understanding of how emotions can impact us through the way we interact with situations or people around us.
I use ACT to help clients accept their emotions, and have a deeper understanding of their own emotional wellbeing.
