LICSW, 15 years of experience
Hello, I am Melisha Harris a licensed clinical social worker. As a therapist, I create a safe and compassionate space where you can explore your story, heal, and grow. Whether you’re dealing with depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, life transitions, or simply seeking greater clarity and peace, I’m here to support you. Counseling can help you rediscover your strengths and build the life you deeply deserve. If you’re ready to take that next step, I’ll walk with you to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore, heal and improve your quality of life.
In our first session, you can expect a calm, welcoming space where we’ll talk about what brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from it. I’ll ask a few gentle questions to get to know you, but you set the pace. This is a space for you to feel seen, heard, and supported without pressure.
One of my greatest strengths is creating a space where clients feel safe to be fully themselves as they are. Whether they are feeling broken, strong, and everything in between. With a background in social work, ministry, and trauma-informed care, I bring a unique blend of clinical skill, spiritual insight, and lived compassion to every session. I see the whole person, not just the problem.
I work best with individuals and families navigating grief, trauma, anxiety and/or depression, especially those who are ready to begin healing but need a safe space to do so. Many of my clients are caregivers and adults. If you’ve been silently carrying pain, I’m here to help you unpack it without judgment. We will work together to develop a healthy goal directed plan to achieve your goals.
I use CBT to help clients identify and be able to challenged negative thought process that influences their emotions an behaviors. I support client in developing healthier coping strategies, improving emotional regulation, and creating lasting change. The CBT model is a collaborative and goal-oriented approach that empowers clients to become more aware of their internal dialogue and how it shapes their daily living experiences.
I use Structural Family Therapy to help families improve communication, understand roles, and strengthen relationships. By identifying and adjusting patterns within the family system, I guide families in creating healthier boundaries, resolving conflict, and improving overall family functioning. This approach is especially helpful in supporting families through transitions, trauma, or behavioral concerns with youth.
I use a strength-based approach to help clients recognize and build on their unique strengths, skills, and resilience. Rather than focusing solely on problems, we work together to identify what’s working and how to expand those areas to promote healing and growth. This method empowers clients to take ownership of their progress and believe in their ability to thrive.
I incorporate Christian Counseling to support clients in aligning their emotional and spiritual healing through faith based principles. Using biblical truths alongside clinical techniques, I help clients explore their struggles, find hope, and grow in their relationship with God. This approach provides a safe space to integrate prayer, scripture, and spiritual guidance into the therapeutic process.
I use Grief Therapy to help individuals process and make sense of their loss. Whether the grief stems from death, separation, or life transitions, I provide a supportive environment to explore emotions, develop coping strategies, and find a new sense of meaning. My approach is compassionate and tailored to each client’s unique grief journey.
