Hello! I am a licensed professional counselor who has been working in the field for over 25 years. I am predominantly a cognitive behavioral/rational living therapist who focuses on you, the client, and your relationship with yourself and creating the existence you've always wanted. I have a dry sense of humor and believe that honesty with my clients is the way to help them reach their goals. My therapy style is conversational, so I offer feedback and input throughout the session as opposed to sitting silently, and I give homework to help each client work on the skills we've discussed in session. I look forward to meeting you and being a part of your journey!
In the first session, we will be doing an intake. I'll be asking a ton of questions about your history and background in order to better understand where you're coming from and where you want to go. When scheduling your first session, please choose a day that is at least one week from today. Once I see your booking, I will reach out to you to collect information and forward you your intake paperwork. All clients must be at least 21 years of age in order to book. Thank you!
My greatest strengths come from my extensive experience in the field and familiarity with a variety of therapeutic techniques. I'm also honest, with a dry sense of humor and a solid intuition about where my clients are coming from. I've worked with all ages, backgrounds and lifestyles.
My dream client is a client who wants to make changes and grow, plain and simple. If you value an honest therapist with a direct approach and a dry sense of humor, are ready to work on yourself and do the work and be an integral and active part of your treatment, I'm the therapist for you.
I have been a career cognitive behavioral therapist. I believe that our perception of events determines our overall experience of them. My focus is on helping client to recognize their dysfunctional thinking, correct it to something more logical and then focus on the evidence to support their thinking.
Cognitive processing therapy is the trauma based offshoot of CBT. I incorporated this into my practice last year for dealing with those clients who are survivors of trauma.
I use an offshoot of this method, Rational Living Therapy, to help clients identify what they are putting their energy into and if it is giving them the desired return and then to eliminate toxic individuals and situations from their daily lives in an effort to improve functioning and self-esteem and decrease anxiety and depression.
