LMHC, 10 years of experience
New to Grow
I have worked for over a decade with marginalized and at risk individuals and their families. I have experience working with a variety of populations, in particular survivors of traumas individuals navigating complex trauma, anxiety, ADHD in adulthood, families of children with autism, first responders and members of law enforcement, coaches of athletes, and athletes. My approach is rooted in compassion, cultural humility, and a deep respect for each person’s lived experience. I specialize in helping clients understand how life’s systemic stressors—relationships, responsibilities, identity, and environment—impact their mental and emotional wellbeing. Using a holistic and skills-based approach, I guide individuals in developing practical tools to manage life’s complexities, reconnect with their strengths, and move toward lasting change. My approach is to build therapeutic trust in order to work towards processing and building coping skills to manage life's everyday stressors. I am part of a minority-owned practice, I’m committed to creating inclusive, affirming spaces where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow. I use an integrative approach of CBT, trauma informed therapy, strength-based solution focused therapy, and family/relationship systems to create the best treatment plan tailored to fit each person’s unique needs.
I enjoy meeting new clients, during our first session you can expect me to ask you a lot of questions to gain a better understanding of your presenting problems, goals, history, strengths, and areas where you may be struggling. I will go over my approach, limits of confidentiality and time permitting we will develop the start of or the treatment plan for our sessions.
I am kind, supportive, I like to highlight your strengths to support your confidence and trust in yourself to find solutions. I believe we have to be honest with ourselves to really get to the change we want to see. My favorite saying from Carl Rogers is "The curious paradox is that once I accept myself, exactly as I am, then I can change." I have a therapeutic approach to keeping it real and identifying where there may be areas for improvement. I want to help you understand your existing boundaries, and how to make them work for you or to create new boundaries that support your needs.
I work with open minded individuals struggling to find or use their coping skills to manage the stressors they are facing in life. My clients are motivated and ready to do the work towards creating healthier habits and using healthier skills. If you are ready to be honest with yourself and you are ready to work towards better living, you have found the right therapist. Whether you want to learn better skills to manage your mood, to reduce or eliminate maladaptive habits, better skills/tools for ADHD, process traumatic experiences past or present, those wanting to move forward out of a rut. You are ready to take what we unpack in our sessions to face the next day with refreshed perspective, change takes time and effort, you are ready for the challenge and understand that it won't happen over night, depending on what your personal goals are can impact the time it will take, THIS IS NORMAL, and accepting (I will help you if you are struggling) that will make the process a bit easier.
I use an integrative approach of CBT, trauma informed therapy, Acceptance commitment therapy, cognitive processing therapy, dialetical behavioral therapy (DBT), grief therapy, family/relationship/couples therapy, strength-based solution focused therapy, and family/relationship systems to create the best treatment plan tailored to fit each person’s unique needs.
