New to Grow
I’m Carol Sassoon, a direct, warm therapist with over 35 years of experience helping people make meaningful changes in their lives. I am highly solution-oriented and focus on helping clients develop the practical tools they need to solve problems, feel empowered, and move toward their goals with confidence. I believe deeply in one's ability to change. My approach centers on building real-world skills that support lasting growth, confidence, and meaningful improvements in daily life. Therapy with me is supportive, focused, and practical—I aim to help clients make progress they can feel and apply outside of session.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Our first session is a time to connect and gain clarity. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping to change, and what has or hasn’t worked in the past. I’ll ask about your current concerns as well as relevant life experiences, since understanding your history helps us make sense of where you are now.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strengths as a therapist are being nonjudgmental, easy to talk to, and genuinely approachable. Clients often share that they feel comfortable opening up with me quickly, even when discussing difficult or sensitive topics. I use humor when it’s helpful and maintain an optimistic, encouraging presence, even when clients are struggling. I believe strongly in people’s capacity to change, and I bring that belief into every session— balancing directness with warmth as we work toward real, sustainable growth.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal clients are people who are ready to make meaningful changes in their lives and want practical tools to help them get there. They value honest conversations, are willing to try new strategies, and are motivated to build skills that support their goals. If you’re looking for a therapist who is straightforward, supportive, and focused on solutions—while still being warm and encouraging—we’re likely a good fit.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
In my work, I use Solution Focused Brief Treatment to help clients identify their strengths and the practical steps that move them toward their goals. Rather than focusing heavily on problems, I guide clients to notice what’s already working and to build on those successes. This approach is collaborative, empowering, and often helps clients experience meaningful change in a shorter period of time.
Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy
In my practice, I use Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy to help clients understand how their thoughts, beliefs, and interpretations influence their emotions and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful thinking patterns and replace them with more balanced, realistic beliefs. This approach gives clients practical tools they can use in daily life to reduce distress, improve decision-making, and build healthier coping strategies.
