How can I help? Let's talk in a non-judgmental zone. My name is Lorraine Black. I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). I provide comprehensive mental health care to clients across the lifespan and am trained to assess, diagnose, and treat various psychiatric disorders and mental health conditions. My role involves conducting thorough evaluations, developing personalized treatment plans, prescribing medications when necessary, and providing therapy and counseling to support clients in achieving optimal mental wellness. You, as a patient, are my priority. I will collaborate with you to address your concerns, alleviate symptoms, and improve your overall quality of life. Additionally, I may collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as therapists, social workers, and physicians, to ensure integrated and holistic care. Ultimately, as a PMHNP, my goal is to empower you to manage mental health effectively, regain stability, and work towards your personal goals and aspirations. Website: https://www.sunpsych-fl.com/
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
The first session serves as an opportunity for me to gather information, assess the client's needs, and establish a foundation for ongoing treatment. It's a collaborative process aimed at helping clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to take an active role in their mental health journey.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strengths as a PMHNP lie in my ability to provide compassionate, evidence-based care that honors the unique needs, experiences, and aspirations of each client. I am dedicated to helping individuals achieve optimal mental health and overall well-being.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I am committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to clients of all ages and backgrounds, helping them navigate the complexities of mental illness, and working towards improved mental health and well-being.
Strength-Based
I work collaboratively with clients to identify their strengths and assets, as well as their goals and aspirations. By focusing on what they are already good at and what they want to achieve, we develop a roadmap for therapy that emphasizes utilizing their strengths to overcome challenges.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques are used to explore barriers to medication adherence and collaboratively develop strategies to improve compliance. Prioritizes empathetic, nonjudgmental listening, ensuring patients feel understood and respected, and uses reflective listening to validate patient experiences and emotions. MI is integrated throughout ongoing sessions, with regular review of progress, reinforcement of positive steps, and adjustment of strategies as needed.
